I feel if that were the case Ayaka would be way more driven by base instincts and act more like a vengeful spirit. As she is, she's a bit too human (personality wise) and aimless for me to agree with that hypothesis

I really don't think so. If I had to guess, she seems to be more of a rough "copy"/"girl changed into a copy" made by Fillia/Einzberns and influenced by outside forces like Zelretch/Fillia to appear when and where she does.
