Heh, this is exactly what I was saying was the danger of jumping around constantly when you had that poll in your fic thread up.

Not sure if it would be better if they focused on the fighting since the animation isn't the strong point and you could get more mileage out of dialogue while leaving the viewer to connect the dots with the fighting.
He never sleeps. He never dies.

Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.

You could have cut a few seconds out of the forcefield fight to mention the lifelink and closed a giant plot hole.
Or have removed Hakumen from the anime altogether, since apparently you won't let him do a damn thing onscreen except for five minutes in the second episode.

I am sad that they excluded Mu's best lines. Where are the insults? The HATE!HATE!HATE! ?

It was a mix of what he says to Ragna and what he says to Noel, but some new (as far as I recall) stuff too. Like the first Prime Field having been destroyed and Amaterasu not having been created by humans, as far as I recall that wasn't in Continuum Shift.
So it wasn't a cheesy forcefield pushing session? And I was wondering why Ragna didn't just chop off his head, it's the directing that made it stupid instead of explaining things.

And about the info, so the Master Unit Rachel was talking about being loyal to is Amaterasu, a sentient all powerful Sankishin that controls reality due its mastery over Seither. That First Prime Field was the blob like ghost with glowing eyes that instead of being lost in the Boundary was shown to be skewered and tossed down the Cauldron, which are portals to the Boundary. And the Takama-ga-hara are the three shadows that were be the man made equivalent of the Master Unit and usurp it, which obivously did not happen.

I'm certainly having the realization that the Black Beast and the Azure Grimorie were not the true all powerful figures get across to me. And damn, I've just realized how much of Japanese mythology were used.

More like, how come they did Lambda and Nu's sacrifice well (arguably even better, since in the main story of CS that kinda came out of nowhere), and also some of the exposition (or more like, new information, lol), but they do SO VERY MANY THINGS CRINGE-WORTHILY BAD?
I'm glad it turned out like that since I was wondering what happened to Nu. Felt good there was some peace and reconciliation.

    No...wait...it's over. We missed it.

Oh well Jin's here at least. They're about to go at it full power, I guess that'll be make up for it at least.

    Nope! Missed that too!
man this anime. I should just go ahead and order Continuum Shift Extend for 3DS.

In the game Hazama forms a lifelink with Mu, so to kill him you have to kill her simultaneously.

Ragna just leaves him on the floor completely broken since it would be too much of a bother to actually finish him off.

Amaterasu's actual power is...debatable and vague. Keep in mind that Mu exists to kick its ass and everyone involved treats that as a very real possibility, so "all-powerful" is stretching it.

I have nothing to say other than Nakamura killed it so hard this episode. He was seriously born for Hazama. The budget making his face go crazy made it even better.

Is this from Bururaji? Trying to find translations of those, it sounds really fun.

Huh. Not only did they show the fight, it was actually pretty good. I like their take on her Astral Heat.

I'm confused as to why Mu just stood there and let him grab her, but I guess "Ragna gets shot by a laser from behind and then gets cut in half" is a bad conclusion. I'll just blame it on inner conflict with her Noel persona or something.

They really, really should have introduced Terumi's ghost form before. Or, like, not use it at all.

Huh, Noel kept the armor (and hair style) for the rest of the scene in this version.

So in the anime, Terumi seriously only survived because Ragna couldn't be bothered to take the TWO SECONDS it would have taken to kill him? Wow. Anime guys, you at least shouldn't have him point that out afterward, Ragna isn't the only one that looks dumb as a result.

Not much else to say really. This was a good episode overall. Shame the anime wasn't consistently that good.

Biggest issue: Hakumen receives zero explanation

No scratch that. The real biggest issue is and always will be that they wasted like a fifth of the anime on Taokaka, the single character who has the least to do with anything.

special effects failure: Noel's eyes were green when she first came back but went back to blue the rest of the time.

    You sure?

Aside from immediately after the headpiece breaks, they look green to me. Certainly not the blue that they are when she's Mu.

Well I can't really make the difference between blue and green so I guess I'll take your word for it.

Might not be an animation mistake though. They have her keep the armor on too, so this might be the same thing.

Well ya but they made a lot of emphasis on her having blue eyes post-forging and then they fuck up making them green again except for one shot.

    She's still forged.

I meant post-forging as in after she went into mode, not as in after she got Relius Astral'd by Ragna.

    I know.

But she's still gone through the smelting process.

Getting her personality back doesn't make the hundreds of souls that were added to her as a power up vanish.

    Chrono Phantasma
She has blue eyes as Mu in CP too. It's literally just a sign that she's using her powers.

I would've liked it more if they had shown Relius actually helping Hazama get into Takamagahara... by killing him.

Other than that, and what Siriel already said, why didn't they at least explain Ragna's reason for going to Ikaruga? It makes no sense to those who've only seen the anime - probably would've been better if they told us to go play the game at the end, or something.

^Whoa Whoa Whoa, that happened? That's how he snuck in?

I really liked this episode. It felt meaningful that Ragna would be the one to do so, given what we know about him.

So, Litchi is with the bad guys, knew Tao would go with Ragna, Takama-ga-hara is incapacitated (was that lone shadow materializing Terumi's ghost form?), Jin will train with Jubei, Tsubaki is now strong enough to fight against Hakumen, and the Imperator is...

Damn. What the hell is Phantom, no explanation for Hakumen, and Lambda's life link was sacrificed permanently? And no life link explanation for Terumi so it makes everyone look dumb; if they had Ragna chop off his head, would that have made him more directly responsible for allowing Terumi to slip into the Takama-ga-hara?

Litchi got hoaxed in by Trollzama because she wants to cure Arakune aka Lotte Carmine, who she has a boner for for absolutely no reason (he was a real prick), Hakumen is pretty easy to guess, he also has the Power of Order (like a certain nii-san lover) and also says "Ware wa Jin" like a certain nii-san lover. The shadow was indeed Terumi. Tsubaki can't do shit to Hakumen (he's literally the world's strongest man, he has beaten Relius and Hazama at the same time before in other timelines).

Phantom is someone who can use magic. Kokonoe can also use magic because she inherited from her mother. Hazama killed her mother. I'll let you figure out the rest.

Lambda didn't have a life link with anyone. Terumi had a life-link with Mu until Ragna undid the Smelting, so he literally can't die until that happens. When Takamagahara looked away for a spell, he had Relius slam his head into the pavement so he could infiltrate them. Then he establishes a life-link with the Imperator and she becomes his Observer so he doesn't have to troll people to stay alive (since he's literally bound to the world by people recognizing his existence without an Observer).
