So some new things have come out regarding Sherlock so I'll round it up here.
The Christmas special will supposedly be adapting "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle" and will not be canon per se.
Season 4 will air in 2017Moriarty is confirmed dead and Martin Freeman implies hat since they roughly follow the books, Mary will probably die along with her unborn child.

He was nuts, it made a certain degree of sense. Would have worked too except for Sherlock's "so inexplicably bullshit that we won't even really actually show you how it was done (because we don't actually know lol)" faked death.

Just finished watching the Christmas special. Christ, this show has gone downhill. Ever since S3 it's become entirely too wrapped up in its own internal mythology (read: memes) for any shred of originality to shine through. Seems as if the writing process is not so much masturbatory as it is Moffat and the Tumblr fandom 69ing each other. I agree with Skull that the mystery concerning the Bride was serviceable, albeit painfully obvious from the halfway point onward.
