Episode 22 worked about as well I expected guess. I definitely did appreciate it more when I did a partial re-watch, but still, I think it could have had more.
Like, that stuff that might've been going on in Shinji's headspace, that I'd have hoped to see animated? Maybe something about being mind broken by All Evils of the World or Dark Iri or something? I'd have liked to see that, even if the runtime on the comfy parts of the show had to be trimmed some.
I did like what Shinji moments that we did get at the end, though.
And double the love for what was done with the aesthetic of Shinji!Grail overall. Honestly, for the grail to be nothing but a giant pink bulbous mass of flesh with a random Shinji in it would have been… underwhelming at the Final Boss Stage. Shinji's skeletal state in combination with the human-like figure of Shinji's 'coffin' is much more foreboding.
Grail!Shinji reminds me of SMT If's final boss, except Shinji's design is leagues better.
Hah, yeah, i just rechecked. I don't know how the eff i got DEEN's version in my head confused with canon.
Now that i think about it, DEEN added way too many Arturia scenes compared to the original. It was very out of place, especially since they only had an hour and 30 minutes. Ufotable made the same mistake with that random "duel nature" thing i thought.
Its supposed to be subtle that she's picking up things through the Archer Shirou fight, but they kind of hit you over the head with it
Shinji's going to be a mother.
Seriously; first Sakura now UBW Shinji. What is up with the Matou family.
Anyone else think that aesthetic kinda looks like Cthulu.

Machines do not lose their worth when a newer model appears.
Their worth (life) ends when humans can no longer bear that purity.
It looks more like a giant than a giant octo-human monster.

Spoiler:
...was anyone else reminded of Yu Gi Oh by EgGrail!Shinji? I mean, I wasn't when I saw the episode, but watching those screencaps I made the connection.
Yugioh from FSN? Not in a thousand years.

You know what Shinji's new Grail form vaguely reminds me of?
Spoiler:
So as faulty a vessel as Shinji is, could ufotable be showing AM trying to more evidently manifest itself, and thus muster up this vaguely human shaped form around Shinji? The next episode is called "Incarnation," after all...
There is still a bunch of bulbous flesh at its lower half, by the way. By the time Team Shirou arrives at the Lake, will this Grail have become more bulbous and flesh-like, look about the same as it did at the end of the episode, or become more like some bipedal monster, you think?
It's going to go EVA on us and turn into more of a humanoid.
Spoiler:
Not really though? There's hardly any saber scene at all in the UBW movie, heck she's pretty much forgotten during answer. There no saber development in the movie at all, unlike UFO that took the time to give her some parallel and closure.
It only had some weapon cameo. With shirou meleeing gil with caliburn and archer final shot at gil was TA's dirk.
"An ideal is only an ideal after all. As long as you embrace that ideal, the friction with reality will continue to increase. So you will someday face reality and will have to pay for your compromises"
They should've made the last sword that hits Gil be Anduril rather than Assassin's knife.
"Sword of the King Broken Phantasm! Ahahahaha I crack myself up."
Localizationing stuff
^Now that's the reference I want to see haha.

For the swords spam scene, just use all the Tolkien swords.

Nah, Deen already did that, Ufo should stay with what it did the whole anime and go use Dark Souls swords.
On that note, old Yahrnamin Bloodborne is so damn frustrating. Stupid gatling gun guy.
All it needs is a smile.
Spoiler:
I wonder if some of these VN-specialists on youtube just read through the type moon wiki and continue to get literally everything wrong beside fate memes
