I hear Phantom of Inferno was actually relatively uplifting so people should really stop acting so surprised when Gen writes something other than edgy stuff that makes you think you're reading a 90's grimdark manga.

really depends on the ending.
The fourth heroine's ending was pretty nice and uplifting.
I would say Cal's true ending was the most like him. But Elen (especially if you add the extra requiem of inferno ending, which iirc, was added by Urobuchi) was arguably pretty bad (as in more grimdark/gritty/etc.). As well as Claudia's.
Would say the same thing about his Good, Bad, and the Ugly game.
But yeah, his Black Lagoon novels are also pretty tame.

This series looks like it's gonna be great, I love the mech designs shown here.
Mecha design reminds me of the Kraken from Demonbane.
I liked Kraken, so I'm pleased.
nothing really too impressive from the trailers but with the people behind it i do have high expectations
So I'm guessing the newcomer to Mars is the main character.
And it's got a pacifist princess (yes she technically isn't a princess but she sounds like she fits the basic mold). As if we haven't seen a boring horde of those in mecha anime.
Give us another Sayla already. Preferably one who doesn't exist to show how she can't win a fight.
