Finished KyoAnis AIR adaption.

Objective rating as an adaption: eh its very lacking 3/10. It needed at least 5-10 more eps to work, 1 cour just isn’t enough for a vn this size. The final episode is very competent though, got the big feels.
Subjective rating of the enjoyment I got as an AIR fan: Just seeing Misuzu and Yukito chilling in kyoani kinography with natsukage playing in the back makes it worthwhile, thank you based kyoani.

AIR is pretty abstract atmospheric sekai-kei shit so feeling the V I B E is important, and despite its severe pacing fuckups the anime manages to deliver that vibe I liked in the VN very nicely. I had a good time, even though it is a bad adaption. Compared to other kyoani key adaptions, AIR is undoubtedly the worst. You cannot properly get the AIR experience through the anime, while imo Clannad anime is perfectly fine alternative to the VN and with Kanon id even recommend the anime over the VN. Another (very subjective) flaw is for some reason Kyoanis anime has OnoD voice Yukito, while all other media has Midorikawa. I played the VN with Midorikawas voice so while OnoD by no means has a bad performance, Yukito = Midorikawa and that’s final.

Probably gonna give the movie a shot soon to continue with the 20th anniversary celebration.

A single movie adapting a whole VN sounds like a recipe for disaster but im morbidly curious cause its directed by Osamu Dezaki. Thats just wild to me.

Alright, done with AIR movie. Lol wtf was that.

Yukito was uncharacteristically emo and a stereotypical blushing harem mc instead of the hilarious piece of shit weirdo magical hobo who tries to scam money from kids and steals milk from neighbors, and Misuzu was almost unrecognizable, they turned her to a genki girl. Misuzu always struck out to me as different compared to the other keyautism girls in that she inspires a feeling of pity and sadness in me rather than "haha shes retarded how cute", so her being this happy and... normal... is just confusing.

It also went way overboard with the dezaki-isms and other strange stylized direction to the point of parody. Actually burst out laughing when there was this scene with mizusu and yukito talking and all of a sudden in the middle of the same cut this weird fisheye lens blasts on misuzus face, its so abrupt, unnecessary and awful. And I swear ive gotten enough lens flares to last for a decade with this movie.

If I intially thought Kyoani was adaption rating 3/10 & personal enjoyment rating 8/10, this one was 0/10 & 3/10. Honestly this reminds me of the Tsukihime anime in that it wears the skin of the source material but is a completely different product. This was such a fucked adaption that i actually gotta retract my statement and raise kyoanis adaption rating to atleast a 4. KyoAni did a lacking job telling the story i love, but at least they told it.

I will praise it for some things: My man Yukito was voiced by midorikawa as im used to, thats good at least! Also removing Minagi and Kano from the story completely is the correct decision and KyoAni shouldve done the same to spare more time on Misuzu, Summer and Air. Hell, KEY shouldve done it when making AIR in the first place. Theyre completely unnecessary, pure padding and detract from the main story. But then again Kannos dog was super cute in kyoanis anime so i guess its forgiven. Oh and this movie had MILF NIPPLES LETS GOOOO lmfao.

Watched the Made in Abyss movie through a torrent of the private screening thing Sentai did. Masterpiece. Bondrewd's a truly fascinating villain. Will certainly rewatch when the BD's released in like a week or so

Watching through Kamen Rider Build right now. It's... pretty good, but the pacing is sooooo bad. It's gotten a little better since the earliest episodes, but not a ton better.

Just finished episode 4of Dragon’s Dogma.
The CG characters aren’t the worst but the large monsters look absolute trash. It’s almost amazing at how shit they are.

Plot wise, it’s monster of the week and I swear that you can watch any episode after the first one and miss nothing because of how it on tangentially has anything to do with the Dragon.

Action wise, it’s nothing to write home about. It’s like they wanted to mgo a Berserk vibe but come up short. They even gave the Arisen a enraged super mode.

All-in-all, a mediocre show that I will undoubtedly forget once I finish it.

Freezing over. That wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Was a good show, and quite dark. 7.5/10, if I had to rate it
Most of the fanservice is in the non-canon comedy BD shorts.
Other than that, it's clothing damage, shower scenes and a character who likes to swin naked in the pool

Since the Summer season is pretty much over and I've exhausted all the seasonal anime for the week (even though Saturday wasn't really a strong night in the first place), and I needed something to watch while I grinded out Gilfest and polished off this bottle of rye (Mmmm, Vanilla) I decided to put on Ben-to. It's just stupid enough to not need to dedicate enough attention to it, but anytime you do there's bound to be something neat going on. It's perfect for a situation like this.

It's also feels nice to see David Pro before they became "the Jojo studio"

70s Mazinger over finally. This was a goal of mine for a long time and now I'm here. Was a ton of super robot fun. Surprisingly sad and tense at times, though.

Seeing the heroes and their mecha all beat up in the final episode hurt but Tetsuya and Great Mazinger's entrance was pure hype

Now onto Mazinger vs Ankoku Daishogun movie, which is an alternate version of the ending to Mazinger. Feels good, man
Vs Ankoku Daishogun watched. Fun movie. Even in the 70s, movies had better visuals and animations than their TV counterparts, nice. Now I'm ready for Great Mazinger

Popotan over. Good show. The characters were great, the premise lead to some good drama and there was lots of nudity. Enjoyed it. It was an adaptation of an eroge VN with changes in the plot and such and stands well on it's own. VN's not translated though, so I can't make direct comparisons.
Fun fact, the VN's opening is what provided the dance for the old Carameldansen meme

So Gore/Go captured the Earth Ignis so it could be decompiled. The Shepard is revealed to be Emma's step-brother and she had a speed duel against him to protect Aqua. Sky/Aoi got the Water Ignis and a new look and with that, Ghost Gal, Playmaker, Blue Maiden, and Soulburner are now a team against Lightning. The Shepard and Varis/Revolver dueled because Varis thought he could help against Lightning. But The Shepard is a lone wolf, so he refused which led to a duel between them. Varis by summoning Topologic Trisbaena and letting it be destroyed, so he could just use it to be equipped to his Borreload Savage Dragon. The Shepard, taking some of Varis' advice went to face Lightning alone, only to be defeated. Then Gore and Playmaker had a Speed Duel where it was revealed that SOL Tech put Earth's data into the AI chip implanted in Gore, making him an even stronger duelist. But the toll on his body is extremely noticeable. He almost won if it hadn't been for Playmaker pulling out Firewall eXceed Dragon, making him the first to XYZ Summon in the show. So now all the summoning methods, besides Pendulum Summoning, have appeared.
