"Every detail... If I gave you that, we'd be sitting here for weeks."

Figure framed in the morning sun, the azure haired woman's voice remains decisively neutral, even as she approaches a topic that you are absolutely sure would be sensitive for her.

"But it's really characteristics you want, right? How it works? What was done to stop it?"

A pause, eyes that you can't see focus on your face.

"The Kyuubi is ultimately a giant vengeful spirit, a manifestation of the world's darkness, the part of the Soul Sea that collects not just those souls twisted by negativity, but the negative feelings that even living humans naturally possess... After all, the feelings of people become power, and that power has to go somewhere... Now these feelings are supposed to dissipate with time, if the world takes something away from you, and you hate it for even a little bit, you contribute to that part of the sea. But it's supposed to be a passing thing, the living come to terms with their past and find a reason to go on, spirits come to terms with how they died, that sort of thing... In one way or another, they are supposed to move on from that negativity."

    Another pause.

"But at some point that stopped happening. There could have been a number of things that triggered it, a war heavy enough to split the world into two factions, the realization that dreams don't come true even in the ideal world, leftover anger from the old world... Whatever it was, grudges started to build up and weren't being dealt with fast enough. The result is that curse. Even the little things that should fade away, a brief flash of hate or anger, a brief moment of dissatisfaction with the world, get swallowed and twisted by the feelings of others, and well... That was how it was born, in theory anyway."

Shifting her stance, the woman sighs.

"At that point, when it started feeding off even the little negative emotions of people... That was the point where it became a special kind of vengeful spirit. It doesn't need souls in their entirety anymore, it still has millions of them, but it can persist off simple grudges and keep dark thoughts going far beyond their point of origin; it's gotten so big that it's actively trying to strengthen itself... And everyone feeds it now, despair, anger, fear, all of that, every negative thing you have ever felt, it has taken that and made it a part of itself. Even if one soul comes to their senses, the others likely drag it back into madness."

    In essence.

"From a certain point of view, it is 'everyone.' When you fight it, you are also fighting yourself, and no one knows how to break a person more than their own selves... That is why it is especially potent against humanity, it is their reflection in a mirror. It is what happens when people gather around despair instead of hope, it is humanity's anti-thesis, an unexpected self-destruct protocol."

Parts of yourself you have rejected.

Parts of yourself that you can't admit to possessing.

Desires to destroy that were suppressed, to want to hurt others because you were hurt, lashing out...

    That thing...

Taking all of humanity's dark desires upon itself, twisting them further by mixing everything together...

That was certainly... A special sort of monster.

"It can't be killed. If you really wanted to 'kill' it, you'd have to kill what's feeding it... In essence, to permanently wipe it out, all you have to do is wipe out humanity as a whole. That plan isn't feasible for obvious reasons... So my friends... Split the mass into as many pieces as they could, and then used their own souls to seal them away from each other. Unity is what gives it it's strength, by breaking it up and keeping them apart, they slowed it down for a couple hundred years... But it seems that World War 2 gave it just the boost it needed to start moving around again in spite of their efforts."

The Kyuubi now is much stronger than the Kyuubi from all those years ago.

The Kyuubi that had defeated Yamuna...

That thing... What it was now...

"Even fighting it feeds it. The anger to strike at it, the fear that it will defeat you and make you a part of itself... It can feed off of those things as well... It's a monster of the worst sort."
    Exodus (Complete)

    "You hear that Alex?"

Her voice is so neutral that it's almost like she's disinterested... Or simply isn't falling for it. Talking again into her collar, her words painting the picture that some coworker of hers is somewhere nearby, you don't immediately get the sense that she's seen through your lie, after all, parts of that had certainly been the truth but...

"Uh-huh? I'll admit my sense could be wrong if it's that Kyuubi nonsense... Damn thing is practically a demon itself... So what's the COMP's scanner say? Demon? Yeah, thought so."

Just as she had found you out here in the middle of nowhere, it seemed that she also had ways to confirm the nature of not only your own existence, but that of Lilith's, or at least this 'Alex' person did...

Of course, her stance doesn't change.

"But hey, maybe machines are wrong too," speaking to you again, making it clear that she knew you were listening to her dissect her lie, the woman's voice remains mostly disinterested, even though her eyes have the same sort of spark as Elizabeth's, "The Kyuubi is a hell of a problem as well, can't let that wander in Germany either; the SDCD is supposed to take care of that, ours is the Adjudicator..."

A sigh, as if realizing she was getting off base...

"...Point is, you didn't make me want to arrest you any less, can't have you mucking up the Reimyaku lines on my land... So I'll be nice about it one more time... Hands behind your back. Spiritual power low with no spikes. Both of you."

    "...Hmmm."

Making noise for the first time, the Demon smiles at the silver-haired woman, who responds with the same blank stare...

"Adala, correct? Very well, things will go fastest this way I believe."

Only for the demon to seemingly throw in the towel immediately... At least, as far as you can tell.

    It's very...

Difficult to tell what she's thinking.

"But would you kindly tell your underling to stop pointing those cannons at my Contractor? I'd hate to cause damage to your ship."

Especially when she talks about things you can't quite place.

    My lie is seen through.
It's not surprising, but it is a bit aggravating, as I grip my ax and glance at the woman in front of me, trying to figure out a way to get out of this.

    "...Hmmm."

    Lilith's smile is...

It's not a nice smile. It's kind, yes, but it's not nice. Those are two different things, two sides of the same coin.

"Adala, correct? Very well, things will go fastest this way I believe."

A surrender is for the best, really - I have friends in high places and friends in low places. It's easier to get away if I just acquiese, right? They can't un-contract Lilith from me, so it's a warning, a warning. Say fifteen Hail Mary's, praise be to God.

"But would you kindly tell your underling to stop pointing those cannons at my Contractor? I'd hate to cause damage to your ship."

"Ah." I say, glancing at the girl. "It wasn't really ever a question was it?"

I laugh, a bitter sound scraping its way out of my throat. "Very well, I'll go with you. Can I call someone? I need to tell them were I am. We're a... bit off course."

    A piercing stare.

"Please, feel free to try. My ship isn't so weak as to be damaged by a single demon."

Voice as relaxed as ever even as her eyes narrow at Lilith's words, of her knowledge of things she had no business knowing about, the woman nevertheless does not move to attack anyone, content to say something that you can't help but feel is a little absurd, especially when this 'ship' the two of them are speaking of is nowhere in sight.

Even so, when you give in...

A giant battleship, something that was easily over a kilometer in length, appears in the evening sky.

It's like something out of a science-fiction movie.

Having allowed yourself to be more or less captured, at least for now, the sight that you're greeted with when you're escorted onto the ship by the silver-haired woman is that of a massive control room; lined with computers, or at least terminals that resemble computers, there are far fewer people sitting at the terminals than there are terminals themselves, but for those who are present, their fingers are clicking away at the borderline robotic speed of professionals.

On the far wall, you can see a holographic map of what seemed to be Germany in it's entirety, with various dots of lights flashing along the surface of the electronic construct, it gives you the impression of a sort of radar, one whose purpose becomes clearer as those in the room call back and forth about "supernatural incidents," "demon summonings," and "abnormal fluctuations in Reimyaku lines."

On a smaller terminal the world at large is on display, and...

    From what you can tell...

Both Japan and Britain are lit up in their entirety... With every other part of the world just having a dozen or so flashing lights along their surface...

While Japan being completely lit up is somewhat expected, the world itself seemingly going to hell is a bit more unexpected...

"You, ESPer, you can use one of our Terminals for your call, I'll watch over it."

While your chaperone had seen fit to leave you mostly unbound in the end, putting only a single metal bracelet on one of your arms, it's not from a lack of knowledge of what an ESPer can do, rather, the moment you had stepped onto the ship, your powers had taken a noticeable dive, as if you had walked straight into the heart of a powerful bounded field; one so powerful that even the whispers of the Kyuubi lose their edge...

Being led to one of the many computers, the woman places your phone into a slot on the console and the screen lights up as a result, your entire contacts list flashing across the surface of the closest computer monitor, as she does...

"Just pick whoever, it's basically touch screen tech. Alex. Status Report."

    "Understood, Admiral."

A young man responding to the silver haired woman's orders with her title, he doesn't seem like the type that is very enthused about his work, but goes along with it anyway out of what seems like conditioned obedience.

Seems like the one that had gone out to confront you was the "leader" of this apparent airship...

"Still no response from Japan's SDCD or PDCH. All of their R.A.I.L.S lines have been disconnected, conventional methods of communication with Director Mikado have also been met with nothing; however, reports of demon summonings remain stable. The Rose Cross has reported heightened spiritual activity, miasma is gathering at key points in their leylines, but no further demon summonings can be confirmed. As for us, all active demons within Germany are ones registered with legal summoners, our situation is under control for now."

"I see. Keep lines open with the Church, and keep attempting to contact Lord Mikado, the country looks like it's going to explode and no one is doing anything about it. I want to know what the hell is going on over there."

Barking orders, to which all of the crew scatter, the woman takes her eyes off of you to do what you must.

As far as people who could get you out of this over the phone...

    Well...

"...That wasn't what you were asking about?"

    "Uhhh... no?"

I try very hard not to laugh, I really do, but it's just too much to resist with Mina standing there, freaking out. If you can't laugh at a tragedy, well, then you just can't laugh, right? And even if she's been turned into something - and I don't want to think too hard about that, yet - I feel a little better.

"No, I just wanted to know what you thought of the place. I appreciate you being honest, really," I'm definitely not laughing at her. "But that's all."

An unlit cigarette is already dangling form my mouth before I hastily remove it. I didn't even notice I'd taken it out of the box.

"Well yes, I am still Mina, so there's no need to worry! Although with my name being what it is... Well, maybe the world is just having a laugh at my expense."

    "I believe you."

She winks at me, and I pull a goofy, exaggerated face right back.

"And sure, let's go see what kind of crazy things a ghost world aquarium has got."

"Good sentence, good plan, let's rock."

    ---

    "Holy shit."

"...I think this one is actually a monster."

I stare at it for a second.

    "Yeah. Yeah, that seems fair."

The thing in question ignores us, lazily spinning in the water. Even then, it was gigantic. I knew that between the two of us, we could take it out with ease, but part of me instinctually wanted to turn around and quickly walk away. The only reason I didn't head to the next room was because Mina, of all the things she could be doing, had pressed her face right up to the glass.

"Is this a world for animal spirits too?"

"I've seen some around, I think. I don't know about that one."

"No. That creature is not deceased, it is actually a flesh and blood dinosaur. Mosasaurus, I believe."

My shadow billowed out before I could stop myself, pausing only when I realized who it was. I frowned at her as it slithered back to normal shape.

"Oi, I'm too young to be having heart attacks."

    "You will try."

It's the voice of someone who has no faith in the declaration you had presented her with, the equivalent of a parent going 'that's nice dear' and patting you on the head so as to make you feel better about yourself, a practiced response without real emotion, something done purely from repetition...

"But humans themselves are the problem, and you're ultimately no different. But don't worry, I'm taking care of it. You should just enjoy your life in the now, before everything comes crumbling apart. And it will."

Being able to bring forth tomorrow...

Endless broken promises leading to a complete lack of faith, the woman knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that she is the only one that can bring tomorrow to a world that bears a decisive end; it is a very cynical outlook, a complete lack of faith in humanity that seems to have convinced her that even this conversation...

    Was ultimately meaningless...

"As for what I want to know..."

Face twisting in thought, a light laugh emerges from cynical lips.

"I already know everything about everyone... I don't have any questions I need answered."

"I apologize for startling you, but you seemed like you were having fun, so I thought I'd join in for just a little bit."

Polite as ever, the Goddess you had met in a library beneath the sea, smiles even as she straightens out her posture. She was someone who was hyper popular in this ghost city, often just called the "Blue Woman," she had the presence of a celebrity, someone that everyone here knew and got along with, an almost too perfect goddess whose charisma was so potent that more than once you had thought it may have been the result of some sort of brainwashing effect.

    That...

Or because she was apparently in charge of reincarnation, perhaps it was just in everyone's instincts to "like" her...

Lord knows her charms had gotten you the first time without a struggle.

In here now, pose still like that of a tour guide, she seems to be clutching something in her hand, although she doesn't immediately move to do anything with it.

    "Oh, it's the Goddess."

Even Mina seems to know her now, as she looks at her with only a mild surprise.

"Hello Ms. Harker, I trust you are still doing well? No further abnormalities?"

"Yes. I haven't heard anything since you treated me. Thank you again! Really!"

It's a conversation that holds some subtle meaning that is close to impossible for you to grasp, but...

...There are some guesses you can make, most of them-

"I apologize for interrupting this outing, but I was entrusted with a task I am determined to see through," interrupting your thoughts, Yami turns her attention to you now, seamlessly flowing from one conversation to the next, "Kenji-kun requested I return this to you if I found you."

    So saying...

The Goddess extends her hand, and sitting there, plain as day...

    ...Is your cellphone?

    When the hell did Kenji-

"He said he upgraded it a bit, and to use it if you felt like you needed a boost... I looked at it myself, and well... I think it's alright if you do use it, you have my permission, I believe it will be something that will have to become commonplace if the world is to continue, but... Just let me know beforehand so things don't get out of control."

    ...What?

Taking the phone from her as she passes it to you, you thumb through the usual apps, looking for anything bizarre, and find...

    An application marked...

    Demon Summoning Program.

    Saki Ryuumonbuchi
    New Aoyama, Brighter Days
    Afternoon

“A plan…” Per usual, Saki repeated the inquiry as she pondered the answer. “A dream…”

It wasn’t a question she had anticipated, but it was one that she should have expected from the man. His students’ wellbeing, both in the immediate and the future, was something he cared for. Given recent events, it was an understandable question to have.

Which made it all the harder to arrive at an answer, because Saki herself had wondered much the same.

“Sensei,” finding it easier to reach an answer if she first walked the road of logic and traversed her own thoughts, the girl began to speak aloud, “until recently, the future was something I both loathed and eagerly yearned for. Life as a student is peaceful, but doldrums threaten the soul. Freelance exorcism was an escape from that cage, but in the end it was simply trading one shackle for another. It wasn’t a pursuit any passion for burnt within my chest. It was just escapism, a brief reprieve from boredom.”

Still holding the Hare of Inaba in one of her hands, the Demon oddly quiet during the recent conversation, perhaps out of the fear of drawing unnecessary attention to himself, the girl glanced at him in her grip.

“There are no dreams in half-hearted pursuits and escapism. Nor do I find myself hopeful of returning to a truly ordinary life once this storm passes. But recently, many new colors have been added to that gray tinted life I used to find myself so weary of. One day, I shall inherit all that is Ryuumonbuchi, and perhaps even more. I once thought of this as a colorless inevitability and accepted it as how the world is, but now…”

‘The next time we meet, you and I, I hope your world will have become something other than red and gray.’

Words spoken to her many nights ago returned to her thoughts, and the girl smiled.

“Now, that gray future I so frantically tried to paint over with power seems more colorful than I could have ever thought. There are still many things left to sort out, but I see a place for myself in the distance, once I’ve won the Conception.”

Without even a shred of doubt or hesitation, still wearing that genuine smile, the girl announced her intent to take part in, and emerge victorious, in the coming war.

    Afternoon

    "Hahaha, I see!"

Answering not with a derisive laugh, but one of genuine amusement, as if your answer was something that he should have seen coming, the youthful teacher accepts the declaration with a smile, the more light-hearted smile returning as he seemingly gets an answer that he can accept.

"If that is what you have decided, then as one of my students, you must pursue it with everything you have," pumping his arm as if he was really into the idea, the teacher's laughter remains pure, "To want to win the Conception is the same thing as wanting to change the world, as a teacher, if someone comes to me and says something like that, I can't have any complaints now, can I?"

    Yes.

To want to win the Conception is the same thing as wanting to change the world on a fundamental level; to change the meaning behind 'reality,' it was certainly something that can be used for great good, to fix the problems that plague a broken world but...

    At the same time...

It could be used for great evil as well, even if it was an evil born more from ignorance than from malice. This is something the teacher should consider, after all, even if he acted like a goof more often than not, the man was a certain kind of intelligent that bordered on genius, the kind of person that saw something 'impossible' and found a way to accomplish it anyway. He should, perhaps, be more cautious of this sort of thing coming from a student, and for a bit you wonder why he's so accepting, but...

    Then it becomes clear.

To him, a world made by any of his students couldn't possibly be a world of evil. He didn't warn against it because he had never considered the possibility in the first place, that's right...

He was confident that, when it came down to it, if any of his proteges found themselves wielding that absolute magic...

They would do the 'right thing' with it.

He didn't know what that right thing was... But his faith was still absolute.

"Well, if you want any advice on that, come visit Sensei, for he is certainly the most amazing person you know," jokingly full of himself, the man grins again before turning away, "Now, all of that talk aside, I expect to find you in class tomorrow, Ms. Ryuumonbuchi. Failure will not be tolerated."

    This pose...

Purposefully facing away so he was illuminated by the light of the setting sun, the grinning man looks back, face framed with light, a jokester that just couldn't stop even when it got to the point of being corny.

"For education is the most necessary step for walking into the future-"

    "Oh, Mr. Nakahara."

Your mother's voice, coming from behind you, and accompanied by the figure of a strange feeling woman, freezes his obvious attempt to walk dramatically into the distance.

"I'm surprised to find you here, but it's lucky, perhaps you would like to join us for dinner? We're eating late tonight, so you should have time, no?"

    "Uhhhh..."

    If life was an anime...

    You would certainly see...

Sweat lines running down his form...

Jonathan R. Black & White Rider
    August Star III

The crooked grin on Jonathan's face doesn't even falter.

He had just witnessed something beyond the spectrum any human or ESPer would normally experience in a just world, a battle of legends, a spectacle that would affect the outcome of humanity, the world, everything. Not only that, but he was still standing after a confrontation with the Kyuubi itself, even if he wasn't the one to finish it off....

    "...White."

The Rider nods, and the horse approaches the Dark God. Jonathan, atop the steed alongside the Demon, addresses the God of the Stars.

"Yes, August Star. I am not as arrogant as to suggest that my aid was necessary in your triumph against the Ultimate Yokai, but nevertheless, I did help you with a certain request in mind - something only you, the God of Dark Feelings, can grant."

Hopping off the Horse of Death, Jonathan forms a small water platform upon the abyss, eye to eye with a God that could obliterate him with a single thought.

"Considering your position, my ultimate dream should be as crystal clear to you. I wish - for the salvation of humanity."

A glint of madness flicked across Jonathan's gaze.

"Humanity has grown weak, passive, unfitting as a species! They do not know fear! They do not know humility! They merely want, consume, and live as they please, indulging in sloth and luxury! They have forgotten that this world is not a kind world - they have forgotten what it is to live. They have forgotten to better themselves. They have given up on improving the species in a whole, merely relying on incomplete truths, assumptions, and fancy toys!"

A torrent of water flowed madly around Jonathan as if portraying his anguish, his anger, his madness - no, he had no hostility to the God. It was merely his mental barriers cracking, laying bare his very self in front of an inhuman being - after all, there was no need to put on airs. This wasn't a human. He wasn't looking to use human psychology in anyway.

The bare truth, the only truth - that was the only way to converse with a God.

"The Kyuubi was an interesting existence. It sought to destroy all. However, it was not good enough! Merely destroying the world means nothing. Nothing is left, nothing is achieved. I do not need the tragedy of humanity merely erasing itself and creating no value in this world!"

    Jonathan clenches his fists.

"We exist right now. We have the right to survive. However, we must claim that with our strength, with our intelligence, with every tool we can use. However, all this era's humanity does is engage in petty squabbles, politics, useless banter!"

The mad glint in his eye grows even brighter as his oration reaches its end.

"I wish for salvation of humanity. For that, the weak, useless, and slothful must first be wiped out, leaving those only the strong, the ones with potential, those with powerful souls and will. Together, humanity will attain new heights, reaching for the endless potential they have!"

Lowering his hands, the water ebbs, calming down.

"I wish for help in my goal. I understand I myself, despite my powers, my will, my thoughts, are not enough. I am a greedy idealist : and for my goal, I will not stop at any lengths."

Sighing and putting his hands back into his pockets, he stares straight at the God, not caring what happened next. He had said his piece - the verdict would come, in one way or another.

It was all he could do now.

    “Booooooo Chiaoko-nee mean.”

Despite pouting at Chiaoko-nee’s declaration I choose to let it go and dwell on the rest, humans are the problem? I already know everything about everyone? Mmmn despite everything for some reason I feel like I can understand the first but…

Nyahaha Chiaoko-nee silly, silly, she might not be wrong but how can she be right? If she was right then why did Chiaoko-nee’s silly face exist, experience and understanding from repeating but like when I’m doing chores it’s easy to get stuck and overlook things, Wahaha Chiaoko-nee silly but that kind of mindset might be for the best for me, I bet she’ll make another big silly face if I pull it off!

Ahaha that’s another thing Chiaoko-nee is silly about, something I understand yet don’t quite know why, something I feel like I’ve known my whole life. There is no such thing as good enough, need to keep going, Gonna be hard, gonna be painful but with everything like this giving up before the end is not allowed! Until the time donut finishes promises aren’t broken, time donuts sure are funny. So even if you won’t believe I won’t give up, it’s like string, super-duper string binding us together, I won’t give up on us and I won’t give up on the Chiaoko-nee who says she knows everything but makes funny faces anyway.

Smiling whole heartedly at Chiaoko-nee despite her mean words because in a way she reminds me of someone being stubborn, like Kyoto, like me, like Ane-san, like everyone else nyahahaha cute.

“MMMMMMMMMMMMm since you mentioned it how about a story about people problem?”

I never felt concerned about everything else when I had Ane-san and the rest but Chiaoko-nee makes it sound so serious so I guess I should go be like Kyoto and investigate.

Picking myself up I jump forward and sit next to Chiaoko-nee as I wait.

    Soul Sea (Depths)

The figure of the God does not flinch even as your emotions send your powers scattering of their own accord, while the entity knows that you bear it no ill will, that sort of knowledge is something that it considers redundant, purely because nothing you could hope to do, even with the powers of the Eclipse, would have been able to even scratch the surface of it's skin. Unlike the demons you have seen till now like White, who seems to be slowly recovering power that it should have had from the start, the impression you get of this one is that of a fully incarnate entity, a being that could call itself an "Absolute God" without coming across as arrogant or conceited in any way.

So just as you expected, the only thing that the entity truly cares about in any real fashion is the shape of your convictions. Having looked into your heart and spotted potential in there that it could acknowledge, it had stood before you with all of it's force and demanded to know the meaning, the strength of will, behind your convictions when facing a being that would absolutely smite you for even thinking in a way in which it did not approve.

    You do not back down.

You state what your soul declares that you must.

It is foolishness, it is a gamble with absolute stakes, but...

    "I see. Very well."

Only those people who bear the will to look the Creator in the eyes and declare that "this is how it must be" deserve to live beneath the skies of a Conception.

"I had planned to participate from the start. To allow only the strong to thrive, to crush the weak like insects, it is the natural way of things. The symphony of carnage, an order destroyed by the clashing of millions of wills. Yes, very well, I will sponsor that Reason, let us march against that Order and bring it crashing down. The Great Will, the Clockwork God... These millions of years of machinations will end right here."

Amusement entering his voice, the laughter that emerges from that being is pure in spite of the nature of it's words, as if in meeting with you he had come across an old friend or comrade. It is a feeling that makes you feel less like an invisible scythe hangs over your neck, a sign that this 'God' accepts your existence in it's presence, at least for the moment.

Even so, even though you don't feel in danger...

You can see a certain lucid madness in those eyes, the eyes of a berserker that has delved so deep into the chaos that the rampaging storm it represents almost seems completely silent.

"The Conception is what must be utilized, the world as it is now must be wiped away," already aware that you know the ritual of which he speaks, the God's voice, one that clearly holds some sort of plan, is one that is lighting a path for you to follow in the form of a simple order, "The materials are already gathered, the Drum of Amala is present in your world, you simply have to activate it. By itself, that ritual will obliterate all but the strong; the war for reality shall begin in earnest, and the Gods and Fools alike will come out to be slain."

While it's expressions are calm, those eyes bear an unhinged laughter that would drive most to despair.

"I will send you to it's location. Once there, I will give you what you need to take the first step towards that infinite Chaos."

"No... How are you... What did you do?!"

A disbelieving voice cuts through your victorious meeting with a God that had agreed to carry your dreams to reality.

And with it, comes a fist that could blow away mountains. It's aimed at the head of the talking God, a strike that was absolutely intended to separate it's body into pieces, but the God casually catches it with a speed that you simply can't comprehend, blowing away his assailant, a woman with silver hair, with a single flick of his wrist, turning towards her only after the strike was complete, as if wasn't even really worth his time dealing with her actions.

"Play your part, Ripper. And we will crush this weak world together."

    So saying...

Your world flies away in a sea of color.

    ---

    Jonathan R. Black
    Factory, Evening

While you had visited the realm of the dead in your sleep, it seemed that the God's power had taken not just your soul, but moved your body through space as well; depositing you in an area that looked very familiar, giving you no recourse to say "no" or rather...

This was it's way of saying, if your resolve is truly as deep as you claim... Then there is no time or place to hesitate.

The sun outside is setting, the beauty of the twilight seeming all too fitting in this, the twilight before the end of the world. This is the place in which you had first met Akane, the place that had been her base, and while the current 'you' had never seen this 'Amala Drum' before, the you from a 'previous world' had watched Akane construct one with a relatively watchful eye.

Which was why you recognized it now, when before it had seemed like so much garbage, simply huddled away in the corner of the room. Runes glowing on it's surface, as if it knew what you had come here to do, the relic that could be activated just by running spiritual power through it, was almost eagerly awaiting it's role in serving as a "Beacon" that brought this world to it's end.

The room looks much the same as it had the last time, the floor is wet, gouges in the walls and ceiling are present from your fight with Michio, but there's one thing here, a person, that simply wasn't here the last time you had graced this room with your presence.

    "Yo."

Sitting with one leg crossed over the other, the form of a young man holding a pulsing crimson blade of spiritual power, is one that stands as you simply 'appear' in the room, barring your path towards the drum that would signal the beginning of the world's rebirth.

"Figured someone would come looking for this eventually, so listen, this is just some advice from me to you, but-"

"-You're in the wrong place. Go home."

    His spiritual power is great.

As if the world itself has realized what is happening, and has thrown a guardian between itself and the end, the youth raises two blades, one of pulsing crimson and the other of pulsing blue, and stands on point as an absolute defender.

    However...

    You have found your "Resolve."

A God has agreed to stand with you in your "ideal" your "philosophy" on how the world should function.

A Reason was born, and found to be acceptable.

In the face of that resolve, the resolve to completely crush the world in order to save the world...

    Everything else...

Can get the hell out of the way.

    Reason

    -Chikara-
"The law of competition may be sometimes hard for the individual, [but] it is best for the race, because it insures the survival of the fittest in every department."
The Reason formed by Jonathan R. Black, and supported by Amatsu Mikaboshi, the August Star. As a Reason it is based around Survival of the Fittest and Elitism. Those who are weak and useless do not deserve to live, and will be purged from society. Those that remain will be those who have realized their potential, the humans that have truly embraced their role as "monsters of potential."

A world full of only beautiful things.

But beware, for in a world of the strong, everyone seeks to be sitting atop the throne.

+Eclipse State can be utilized indefinitely; has no turn limit and does not require Critical Condition. A result of bearing Amatsu's blessing. (?)
+Spiritual Power stores are considered to be infinite.
+All Damage dealt by beings that do not bear a supported "Reason" of their own is heavily reduced.
+All Damage dealt to beings that do not bear a supported "Reason" of their own is heavily enhanced/Physical attacks are considered to be Almighty in nature.

“Then we just need to disperse it.”

I say this sentence with no idea about how to accomplish the fact. What I am proposing is perhaps as moronic than they come. But, Occam’s Razor. The simplest solution is always the best—we merely need to figure out how to enact it. It’s the only I hope I have to stop humanity’s goddess from fighting herself into oblivion.

Even if it’s one soul at a time, we can still try to fix the world in incremental steps. The solution may not be quick or easy, but happy endings in this world are deserved. As long as you reach out for what you wish for, it can come closer, centimeter by centimeter.

    Or so, I hope.

“Your friends are still trying after all this time, right? Even if the Kyuubi is impossible to destroy… It should be possible to weaken. We… we have to do it for their sake, if not our own.”

"No can do, kiddo. You know why I am here, and of course, you know I won't turn back."

Smirking, Jonathan pockets his glasses, swipes back his hair, and assumes his usual confident stare.

"I reckon you have your own Reason for stopping me. And like that, I have my own Reason for being here, looking for a certain something that was meant to be mine..."

Holding forth his right hand, Jonathan made a fist.

"Now, show me your resolve - let's see if your mission is as great as my dream!!"

And with that - the world froze.

    -Eclipse Activate-

    -----------Cataclysm Driver------------
    " L E V I A T H A N "

It was as if all moisture in the world had disappeared, then reappeared anew in torrents. Spiritual water spiraled, threatening to submerge the entire factory with its mere quantity. Among the swirling mist and spray of primordial water, Jonathan's form could be seen.

A translucent, divine form...no, rather, it was now a raging torrential form of brackish water, angry and foaming. A dark aura flickered around the trails of moisture, emitting a dangerous power..

The formh had changed slightly from what Jonathan had remembered from his memory....was this an effect of his Reason, the backup provided by God, as well as his power given by Akane? Well, it did not matter.

All that mattered was...achieving his goal.

    [......]

The blackish blue water, the Primordial Flood of Evil anointed by the August Star - beckoned with a finger, as if taunting the young man to attempt to stop him. As he did so, water crashed down upon the factory, spreading to every nook and cranny - towards the young man, and of course, towards his goal, the Drum of Amala.

    [Try and stop me, Guardian.]

The eldritch voice had also changed to a much more eloquent, ominous pitch...much like his normal voice. Disregarding the details, Jonathan's oddly shaped mouth was crooked in a smirk...

An instantaneous attack from all directions, as well as a move towards his ultimate goal. The young man hadn't directly touched the Drum...meaning either he couldn't, or he wouldn't. Anyway, it would still mean he would have to fend off every single one of Jonathan's deadly attacks as well as attempts....a difficult feat, but for a Guardian, he would at least have to be able to do this much.

Or, it would be a letdown.

    Hesitance.

It's hesitance, as I type in Elizabeth's number.

It's hesitance as I hear the phone ring, a lump in my throat, as I wait for her to respond because...

I've betrayed her. I let the Kyuubi in, then I ran away, and I just can't stop this need, this sinking, burning sensation that I need power.

    But wait.

They... they want to know what's going on in Japan?

"I just came from Japan," I say, the phone ringing in my ear. "They're tracking down someone who wants to remake all of creation."

It's a simple statement, talking about Yagami. It's not wrong, but.... it doesn't encapsulate who he is, does it? It's just words, words that I can say without a care. I...

I miss when things were simpler.
in the end we will make thoughtcrime impossible, for there shall be no words to express it

"If they weren't still trying, it would all be over already."

Eyes still bearing that weight of incomprehensible sadness, the woman that reflects upon the status of her friends, of their volunteer plunge into hell to keep an ungrateful world going, goes silent for a few moments even as she acknowledges your words.

    Disperse it.

Naturally, the only way to stop it was to convince humanity to change it's mind; she had no real idea of how to do that, that sort of task was more suited to a Messiah, and her own inability to stop the Kyuubi all those centuries ago was more than enough proof that she was not that sort of human being, no...

It was proof that that sort of human being simply did not exist, at least not within the confines of the world, but...

"I don't know what you're planning... But yes, the Kyuubi is a problem caused by humans, if we made something, we should be just as capable of unmaking it if everyone works together... At the very least, those determined fools inside of that thing will help you, they never stopped believing in happy endings."

Unlike her own self, whose faith in humanity waxed and waned with the centuries, the other had seemingly never broken beneath the pressure.

Purity or foolishness... It was difficult to say what drove them on for all of these years, to continue to pursue a happy ending that they couldn't know existed.

Maybe... If she had to make a guess... It was probably... Because they were all still together in there somewhere.

And she had been left out here, alone with a Goddess she couldn't bear to face from shame.

With the woman lost in her thoughts, and your friend's expressions slowly shifting as she seemingly struggled to find a way to undo her distant ancestor's obvious reservations, only you notice the light feeling of something shaking in your pocket.

    It was your phone.

While you hadn't shared the number with very many people, there were a few who had gotten ahold of it in a number of ways; but with the sender of the text being Liane, who normally called if she had something to say, you can't help but open it up out of instinct, as if feeling that the strangeness of it all made it worth acknowledging immediately.

It was a mass text, sent to many people besides yourself, all of which were likely ESPers.

    And its contents were simple.

They had finally managed to track down and corner Yagami in the real Aoyama.

There were more letters following after this statement, as if she had wanted to make something else known, but...

The message just cut off right there.

With a letter 'v' and nothing else.

"You know history, right? There's plenty of stories of humanity being the problem right out in the open."

It's a topic to which she bears immense experience, and one that brings her so much anger that it fizzles itself out, her voice once again taking on the qualities of someone who doesn't really care about what's going on around herself.

"Humanity is capable of limitless atrocities. The crimes committed during the World Wars, the existence of those Wars themselves, the ancient Crusades, human history is full of slaughter, of the need to kill their fellows in order to prove their own 'superiority,' the willingness to crush the dreams of others in order to make your own come true. The inability to persist in the face of resistance, to move on rather than stew in the past... The hate of people is so potent that even the dead would rather drag the living down than move on themselves, to voluntarily suffer as long as it means that others will join them in that suffering... This world is sick, rotten to the core."

Rather than saying them, the words that emerge at the end are practically spit out in disgust.

"Did you know that even if you stop the original causes, those World Wars happen anyway? Humanity always finds a reason to wage war on itself, all the paths lead to this end, where humanity realizes it's own sins and tries to bury itself. It's poetic of them, I'll give them that, their persistence is just as great even when they've turned it against themselves."

Her hands were opening and closing, digging into concrete with a brutal strength that left the building beneath her hands more and more damaged with each clench.

"I'm sure you of all people understand that twistedness, Makoto-kun," voice draining of emotion again, the smile that appears not only sends chills down your spine, but causes your teacher to step up next to you, arm shooting out to separate the two of you out of some sort of silent paranoia, as if to stop a problem before it appears,"You're filled with that kind of hate too. That relentless, pointless blood lust. I'm sure a part of you thinks it feels good, right?"

    Bullying.

It was an activity that your mother engaged in from time to time. Having chosen to stay silent when she had thrown out her verbal hooks to your teacher and started to pull him in, the youthful looking ESPer had had all of his arguments immediately shot down in the space of one or two words from the relentless woman. Having to go home wasn't a problem, his daughter could come too, if she wanted, and it was a good opportunity for her to get a handle on your school life, as she put it.

What teacher wouldn't love more parental involvement?

Manipulation of the most subtle sort, the youthful sensei had seemed to understand he really has no choice here early on in the conversation, but had managed to slip out with a non-committal "I'll think about it!"

And thus with your mother walking off as if to head home, and with the children being called back inside by the staff, those kids that had swarmed Belial's human disguise leave obediently except for Alice, who only lets go of her uncle's shoulders when her summoner drags her off, the demon going along with it with only a light look of frustration, the relationship between Demon and Summoner much more benevolent than your own even in this sense...

Although the grin she gives you as she vanishes still sends chills down your spine.

That feeling was probably never going to go away.

    "Finally... Freedom."

Speaking up again, as if with the disappearance of both teacher and murderous ghost it could speak it's mind without fear, the only thing it says is audible relief, and the tension in it's back vanishes for the most part... Even as Belial shoots it a look of casual disgust, before disappearing again in a flash, returning to his place inside of your body, as if it no longer desired to be out here in the human world, or perhaps-

"Oh no, have we picked up another pathetic life form, Milady?"

-Simply did not wish to deal with the passive aggressiveness of a certain demon maid of yours.

One who was brandishing a rabbit cage, even as she seemingly spawned from nothing in that inexplicable way of hers, acting as the responsible (?) adult in complete opposition to your mother's nonchalant response to the demon in your arms.

    Exodus (Complete)

Even if the author is silenced, the performance is stilled and the actors leave the stage, the story will never truly end.

Regardless of the form it takes, as long as there are memories of it's existence, the story will continue on.

In a small ward in the heart of a once devastated town, life carries on as it always has...

    Because of you.

    Please, remember it warmly.

We'll continue to walk down this path for eternity.

Until the Ruins of Yesterday Overflow,

For That Which Falls Only to Rise is Simply a--"

“If they haven’t given up on happy endings… then perhaps you should have faith in that as well.” Her expression is painfully easy to read. The guilt of surviving, the guilt of being unable to face those she cared about… I’ve seen those in Sora’s eyes, and my own. These are feelings I’m all too familiar with, and so, I think that gives me the ability to judge her. Like us, Elizabeth merely needs a push, and I am willing to rudely shove her for all it takes.

However… Liane’s message is much more pressing. If Yagami had been found with an unfinished message, I can only assume the worst. I’d rather not wax on about how poorly it could end up, but I need to talk to that man. Someone like him is rather intimately familiar with its creation… and perhaps, his understanding can paint away for a new solution. There are many who want him dead, so all I must do is get to him first.

“I would love to chat more, but… There are more pressing matters at hand, concerning an idiot who wants to make another Kyuubi. We’ll do the typical thing of stopping his plans, so fret not.”

I give Elizabeth a cocky grin, even if it doesn’t quite echo my actual feelings underneath. Better to put up a façade of confidence than openly look weak.

"I apologize for startling you, but you seemed like you were having fun, so I thought I'd join in for just a little bit."

    "Well, that's alright."

I say this smiling, while my eyes burn holes through her. You can't just break unspoken laws like that, even if you are a Goddess!

    "Oh, it's the Goddess."

"Hello Ms. Harker, I trust you are still doing well? No further abnormalities?"

"Yes. I haven't heard anything since you treated me. Thank you again! Really!"

    Huh.

    "Huh."

    Ok.

"I apologize for interrupting this outing, but I was entrusted with a task I am determined to see through. Kenji-kun requested I return this to you if I found you."

Yami holds out her hand, my cellphone clearly visible. I realize at about the same time that its weight isn't in my pocket. Fucking Kenji, pulling a fast one on me, eh? I'm almost proud of him, proud enough that I ignore the fact I didn't realize it.

"I can't believe I didn't realize," I rub the back of my head sheepishly. "But then, I was pretty distracted."

"He said he upgraded it a bit, and to use it if you felt like you needed a boost... I looked at it myself, and well... I think it's alright if you do use it, you have my permission, I believe it will be something that will have to become commonplace if the world is to continue, but... Just let me know beforehand so things don't get out of control."

    ...What?

    "...What?"

I scroll through it, holding it like it might turn into an explosive at any second. I mean, it might. There's no telling what trouble the words 'young' and 'genius' get up to when the lights are off. My initial concerns slowly disappear when it doesn't seem too different, but there is one new thing...

    Demon Summoning Program.
I stare it it for a few seconds.

"Well, I don't think this delivers pizza."

I look at Mina, discretely trying to peek at my screen, and Yami, whose face gives nothing away. I could stay here. I have a good-potentially-a-thing going, and it's not like I don't want to keep today going in that direction.

    Years of troublemaking win out.

I press the button almost before my brain registers it happening.

    "Back in five, lads."
