    What's everyone's idea of a perfect home?

I'm asking because I'm looking into building a Yurt this summer, and I thought I'd ask what sort of ideas everyone has for the home they'd love to live in most.

So what's everyone's ideas of the perfect home?

An apartment? A big house? A small one, instead? Maybe a Tiny house, that's small and cozy?

In case you're wondering, the reason why I'm looking at a yurt is because then I don't have to worry about a huge mortgage for the rest of my life.
I'm starting to suspect that talking with Kieran influences my rolls on Fate/Grand Order Heavily. How else can you explain me talking with him, then rolling for 30, only to get 3 Archer of Shinjuku on my second ten roll?

I write like Douglas Adams. Proof: http://iwl.me/s/696f37bd

I'm perfectly fine with any home.
    But I prefer large houses.

Decent symmetry, lots of in-wall, closet-style storage space, properly insulated to keep cold out and heat in, and heat out and cold in.

Windows should either be strategically placed, or made such that they can be "closed" such that, you can prevent heat from being radiated in during the summer, but capable of letting it radiate in during the winter.

Those are the first things that come to mind. Soundproof room for home theater would be good. Multiple bathrooms.

    - 2-3 floors; the 3rd floor should be used as the game room.
    - First couple of floors will contain all the essentials when it comes to living in a house.
    - A nice, green yard
    - It should be in a zone that supports internet networks
    - 2 garages for cars
    - A backyard for gatherings, BBQs and all

I'd add a pool, except that I'm not exactly a good swimmer. n_nU

    - Adding whatever Jase has said.

I'd like to point out that our ideas of a perfect home aren't necessarily what's best for you, Ranma.

Also, almost everything should be built with the assumption of being replaced, and set up so replacement is easy, if not DIY.

The worst thing to have happen is to have a nice house that starts falling apart in a decade, and it's built with absolute disregard towards ever rebuilding anything.

High hanging chandeliers are the dumbest thing ever, without an easy mechanical way to lower it for light bulb change.

Also, each room should be well lit. Don't get stingy with the light bulbs.

If you plan to get light bulbs, get the ones that last a long time. If you have more of them, the better. Make sure they don't totally inflate your electric bill as well.

Oh, biggest rule in my mind too: don't have anything bigger than what you (and those with you) are capable of living in.

Even if it seems cool to have some spare, unused rooms, they're ultimately just a magnet for your unwanted crap, that you can't bear to throw away.

It can only end badly, to have multiple rooms completely neglected. Make sure you have a clear use for each room in mind, and stick to it. Try to minimize redundancy.

I don't really have a dream home to think of...other than just about every wall in the place would have a bookshelf...

A home that can be renovated, and that has a large yard; front and back. Probably something in a suburban area, but not too far from a city. I wouldn't mind if it had extra rooms either, since they always have their uses, although I have no preference in how many stories it has.

That wouldn't be very comfortable, CounterGuardian. Unless you'd make a tent of some sort with a huge pile of them?

A nice, relatively compact flat, with easily replaceable components and all the needs for a house.

I don't ask for much, really.

Erlkonig has the same idea as me. No garden and minimal lawn size, and the bare minimum number of necessary rooms to make maintenance as easy as possible. Open plan where feasible. Maybe one window box so as not to seem like a complete philistine to the beauty of nature.

One excess would probably be a model train room. As large as the rest of the house combined.

All at the top of a 55 story skyscrapper. I have a thing for towers.

So long as the wiring and plumbing is good, I'm good.

I just want an ordinary two story house with a white picket fence and a well kept lawn, just like the good ol' American dream.

    On the moon.
