I mean, Goku never's been really all that reactive to danger unless it directly and immediately affects his loved ones in front of him. Hell, he's probably just thinking, "Oh, okay I just need to win this and we'll all be safe." Not to mention living in a universe with Dragonballs probably has made him kind of weird with the idea of everyone dying. It's happened already after all with Majin Buu.

Mostly though, it's probably just the fact that Goku isn't a big thinker. When the exhibition is over, maybe they'll have Bulma slap the shit out of him for being a dumbass and they'll browse over the fact that he may have really screwed things up. But I'm not holding my breathe.

A part of me also gets the feeling that most GoD and Kaioshins only really care about their own universe and couldn't really care less if other universes get destroyed so long as it doesn't affect them.

Ep 81, Goku does not give a shit about the whole universes being erased thing. Bergamo tries his hand at being a hero, buts falls before the villain Goku.

And the tournament will just be one big 80-fighter battle royal. Well, that'll give the other U7 fighters time/chance to shine by knocking out at least one each before getting knocked out themselves at least.

Like, he seems to have no understanding of the gravity of the situation at all. I mean, I know it's Goku, but during the Cell saga at least I remember him at least sorta of understanding the point of "OK, if we lose the world's gone" even if he was boneheaded about trying to use Gohan as a secret weapon against Cell/giving Cell a fair shot.

Here he just doesn't seem to care that much at all.

Yeah, honestly Goku is just too dumb in Super. Like, he was always an fight-happy idiot, but in Super he feels like he was written by TFS.

I like how many responses are like, "Wait, are we sure this isn't Black?" to all of Goku's reactions.

I noticed this too, but it might be Toei trying to put into action Toriyama's vision for Goku. He mentions in some interviews that Goku always had a bit of "poison" in him in his Saiyan instincts that make him different than other heroes.

I like that he finally is getting told off though.

There is little Goku can do if the HP tells him that everyone eats it if he holds back. Might as well turn that anger into good fights.

I think that I prefer this attitude of Goku of "FUCK EVERYTHING, I want a good fight and I will have a good fight" any other MC would be depressed for the amount of guilty and hate, and always is annoying to see (for me). Goku lacks of the empathy capacity needed for that and I'm fine with that.

Maybe he knows and is fine with it since it fuels their need to fight well.

Goku has saved the world several times, and is putting the whole universe in danger. I don't know how to feel about this. As much as he loves fighting, it's the fact that he cares about people that set him apart.

I mean, the thing that made me wonder in this episode is the reactions of Gohan. He just seems to be amused and accepting of Goku's actions against Bergamo. I was just wondering what was that weird face he made when Goku mentioned he would be okay with Gohan in the Battle Royale.

Gohan was generally okay with getting stronger, fighting in the exhibition and he basically admitted that he needed to get stronger because he felt like he didn't do good enough. So... was he divided about fighting in another tournament? Confused on Goku's assumption that Gohan would fight in the Battle Royale? Or actually starting to understand the situation and being offput by Goku's casual acceptance?

Also, my head canon is that turning into a Super Saiyan God made Goku's Saiyan instincts stronger or that this is the most destructive mid life crisis ever.

Have you guys seen all of the fandom talk about what the "best possible" team would be?

I always thought it would be cool if they somehow used a Time Ring or Time Machine to get Goku Black and use him, or Cell, or something.

As far as Goku's behavior goes, I feel like, generally, in Super, the writers have just been schizophrenic in how they want to portray him. Each arc, they pick one aspect of his personality and then magnify that to the exclusion of all else, to the point where he becomes a caricature. In the Black arc, he was too goofy and stupid. In Universal Survival, he's 100% focused on getting a fight to the exclusion of all else, etc.

Though part of it could just be the direction they want to take the character too. But there's just something about the way they've done it through Super that feels like they could've done it better.

But I've also found the reaction to this latest arc and Goku to be invigorating; you see tons of people who haven't checked in on the series in a long time coming back because of all of the hype and the debate over Goku. Nobody can resist seeing what's happening to him.

Hey, I realize there's a no killing rule in the tourney, but I wonder how something like cell's self destruct thing where he didn't actually die would be handled or something like 'most of Buu fell off, but he regenerated from a severed head tentacle in the middle of the field'
