The italization is actually pretty easy, just talk overdramatically and add those italics where you'd inflect your voice for added emphasis.
There's nothing wrong with trying to talk to the guy. At least you made the effort and didn't just be a dick or try trolling him (you were clearly on edge but who can blame you).
It's kind of telling that he started spilling his life story when challenged though. The guy clearly had some personal problems outside the forum that he was trying to resolve within the forum.
It's not wrong, but I think when Kyte says he made the mistake of answering seriously he means that the conversation leads nowhere and it doesn't give him anything except for an endless soapbox of replies until he has to tell the guy several times over to stop sending his messages. Basically it's just annoying.
I had an exchange with him about that whole Ea myth creating the world thing that came up once but that was about it.

The funny part is that he was totally normal at one point, I remember him being kind of wacky but fairly pleasant. Then he disappeared for a few months, came back, got a namechange, and started bouncing off the walls.
