Realtalk, is there honestly that much of a need to fill the empty admin slot?

By preference, yes, because it's part of the whole model for the staff: admins have priority but, since there's an even number of them, mods have their say in the case of an admin split. It keeps us green-names involved, while the great cyan overlords continue to wield power.

The obvious answer then is to keep icing admins until you're down to just one that develops a split personality from the stress of running everything themselves. It's most efficient that way.

Is there a big reason why darples can't just be the one admin and everyone else just be a mod if you figure out how to make it so mods can change names?
I guess I just don't fully get why there needs to be that much of a hierarchy among the moderators.

What happens right now if he's not around?
Like, I'm not even criticizing the current structure, I am just genuinely confused as to why more than one admin is needed.
Couldn't the mods vote on most issues and darples only step in when necessary to stop a gridlock or something?

We might get someone else technically competent in future who would be well-served by admin access. DP might decide to retire like Elf and RB. Altima also exists. We want a way to preserve checks and balances among the staff, which is harder if there's only one king of the mountain. Reasons.

if something needs to be done and he isnt around, one of the admins will take responsibility and see to it.
so if someone is completely melting down to the point of needing an instant strike, and because letting the situation worsen would be counter productive, said admin can issue the strike without needing to have a full vote, as opposed to how such a situation would be handled.
there are a few other, similar scenarios, but thats probably the primary difference between a mod and an admin, a mod has some sharp limits on what he or she can do unilaterally, but any of the admins can more or less make a judgement call immediately, provided they are able to explain their reasoning to the other three later.
