Leogate -> Sockpuppeting is a regular if higher offence; also the old administration phases out due to being old
FGO era -> Inactive mods stop being mods; an actually convenient way to handle reports is devised and thread micromanaging becomes more efficient
Gennews -> No politics threads onegai

2003-present -> You have to try really hard to be obnoxious and/or disruptive enough to get permabanned

You guys are still fairly hands off. I mean, about 12 permabans in 10 years? Doesn't speak to much activity.

As for general hands-off-ness, we used to have a pretty high age average for an internet forum so you could just let people be reasonable, and our forum culture naturally gravitated towards letting derails happen as well as letting the tone get heated since that really created the atmosphere of GD people used to enjoy a lot.

It obviously also has to do with community size. We don't even need subforum specific mods because we are so tiny, I could put all active posters into one mid sized room.

All those are good points, and if I haven't made this clear, I actually do like the general atmosphere of the site very much and like being a member. That's why I got super aggressive in my posts about greater moderation and stopping bigotry.

Just popping in to point out that not only is FATAL massively degenerate but also a really shit system. Like it's actually unplayable even if you want to play it for the reasons it was made. People point and laugh going "ha you can roll anal circumference" but its really just horrible to play with mechanics that just don't make sense even for the reasons of being horny and this is discounting the fetishization of actual sadism and rape. You want to get into some actual toxic degeneracy in ttrpgs with better mechanics for it go to a white wolf rpg larp I suggest a werewolf one. Cringiest shit I have ever actually seen play out.

Edit: disclaimer I don't know this cause I actually tried playing it. I just read a pdf of the rulebook for shits and giggles only to be given instead depression and disgust.

Yikes. This seems like an unholy lovechild of Mortal Kombat and Goblin Slayer, except it predates Goblin Slayer.

Goblin Slayer and Mortal Kombat are both pretty tame, they just have shocker elements to get people talking about them. FATAL is needlessly complicated and self-obsessed in its goal of overt edgy-realism. The rulebook begins with a justification of the "historical accuracy" and the authors' explanation of the need for their game to be what they consider realistic. As with every other game that's made similar claims, it's a complete mess.
