Anyone coming to an anime forum for their politics fix needs help.
Anime is undeniably political, though, and it's time more weebs confronted that fact. That, and we need to do something about the sheer number of reactionaries Gennews unmasked.
I mean, even if non-rightoids we're fucking nuts there, who actually plunged the discourse to that level? The rightoids.
It's that kind of thinking that starts those firestorms.
And now I have nowhere to learn that Alec Baldwin accidentally shot two people on set, until I hear about it on a podcast days later.

anything can be connected to politics nowadays, so it is a dumb argument
watching a game, eating a fricking burger, using a certain random word
everything can be politicized if some random in the internet sets their mind to it and other randoms agree for some reason.

This is a hardliner statement, borne out the idea that all human interactions boils to politics. Which is in a sense something you could argue as true.
But you have to understand that such a broad meaning of politics is not something particularly applicable, and as such not useable as a term to argue about.
It is mere sophistry, in my eyes. What nearly everyone understands when we say politics, is the game of deciding the actors who steer policies inside states. This is exemplified by voting, debates, campaigns and rallies. Even if this is not what you mean when you say politics, I'll let you know that this is what we mean when we say that politics threads are no longer allowed on Beast's Lair.
This forum is for discussing the works of TYPE-MOON, and as we've learned from the past, it is best keeping it that way.
Fair. If you go by that narrow definition, then yeah, it definitely has no place here. My own definition is definitely the wider-ranging one, and I feel Gennews revealed some of the worst impulses of several users, and we should have done more in response.

...Yeah...
Gau no offense but that kind of mentality is exactly why political threads will end up like Gen News time after time.
Such polarization worthy of a twitter feed is precisely what makes this whole thing happen. "Rightoids" are one end of it, such as is anyone else that gets involved.
Not only that, I remember reaching that thread through some serendipitous means and being mildly amused. I think it's a good call something like that can't happen again.
Call me 想φαγω.
Spoiler:
It was the thread in which a poster who seemingly bases their entire philosophy of life, the Universe, and everything on video games went on a rant about how they'd love to ride around decapitating Black Lives Matter protesters, and the mods (acting as a collective, but it *is* a group which includes someone who's a self-avowed pick-up artist - but only because he's so shy, see, otherwise he wouldn't be able to even talk to women! - and at least one person who thinks sex scenes with children - oh, forgive me, people who only *look* like children - is perfectly acceptable) responded with a slap on the wrist.

"Well, see, if you keep complaining about the people who think you don't deserve equal rights, or even to exist, you're going to polarise society!"
