Kazehaya Kamito heads to Areishia Spirit Academy, an academy meant to teach young noble ladies how to be strong and capable spirit contractors known as elementallers. In a world where only young women can contract with spirits, he is the first to do so since a legendary demon king. Kamito runs into multiple troublesome girls upon arriving, and discovers there is a condition for his attendance - he must triumph in the Blade Dance, a battle festival of the strongest elementallers.

However, a powerful opponent is returning for the Blade Dance, and may be connected to Kamito's eventful past...

It has 13 light novels out, and the anime will hopefully get through four of them in the first season.

Claire a shit. apart from that Kamito reminds me of Kazuma from Kaze no Stigma. also helps the primary target of both's characters teasing is a red-haired tsundere who uses fire magic

it's the MC not being completely submissive, Claire is still a shitty cliched over-bitchy Tsundere, but Kamito not letting himself being the target of all her bitchiness and striking back serves to weaken the tsun , bringing her shy side to light (which is really cute)

That, and my inhuman resistance to tsunderes gained from reading the ZnT light novels.

For some reason I seem to be unable to bring myself to like literally anyone in this series.

I've read the manga to where the translation ends and watched the episode out so far, and I just don't see what the appeal is...

But many people like Kamito's competence and propensity for teasing, as well as Est.

I like that they changed the weapon designs since the LN/manga sword designs were literally just long machetes.
