Japan is fucked.
Tbh I'm kinda surprised this wasn't cancelled outright...
The theaters themselves should limit the amount of people and the spacing between people in the theater.

Well, hopefully for any showings that do occur, because it will for then most part young people, that they either don't have it or can tank it. I can say they probably will be excommunicado from gatherings around the old folks for awhile though.

Must be a major bummer for those that had a ticket lined up. There were only 2 days left.
Still, can't argue. Safety above everything else.

People are making a good point about this delay finally happening this late is because Japan was trying to convince the world that they're fine so the Olympics still take place and don't get canceled. If they're not closing the country down, it means the government is confident in the safety of its citizens... right?
Now that the Olympics have been officially canceled 2 days ago, they can go in isolation as they should have weeks ago but stubbornly didn't.

Concerning the quote from Altima that you referenced... that’s probably what would’ve happened had they gone through with showing the movie, yeah. Which is a little reassuring… to know that young people have so far been (and will likely continue to be) mostly unaffected by the virus. Too bad they can easily pass it along to others, though. In which case, for the sake of the elderly and those with preexisting conditions that could be exacerbated, it’s best to minimize the number of situations that could lead to the virus reaching them, right? Postponing the movie’s release in theaters only contributes to that goal, then, even if it does come as a bummer.
But I should probably stop here so the thread doesn’t move too far away from its main topic. All the same, stay safe and take very good care of yourself, okay?
So this is the ending they chose
