Nasu created Pepe's character but his LB4 writing (except on the Fantasy Tree fight) is on Minase.
Pepe is a caricature in the story that establishes his outlook on life, (most of) the background that lead to it, and his relationship to both Chaldea and the Crypters? Is this about the LB6 translation failing to capture his fruity way of speaking? Because that's the only thing I can think warrants calling Pepe a caricature.
You were right in the end Aozaki. Not sure why I even believed there would be something, guess LB6 release made me happy enough to forget who was behind this game.

I meant Pepe of LB6 is more compelling character than Pepe of LB4 who's mostly cartoonish, not the other way around.
Loads of 0 AP arrows will give you that feeling
That's strange, I found Pepe great in LB4 because it's kind of obvious that his "okama-ish" speaking and personality is partly a front to hide the parts of his personality he dislikes. The moments he would let slip his mind process beneath his more stereotypical mannerisms gave an interesting gap, though I've avoided reading LB6 translations so I wouldn't be able to tell how differently he acts in comparison, it wouldn't be the first instance of a character being more interesting in another writers hands (Blackbeard being one that comes to mind)

I didn't get anything backwards. LB4 defined Pepe as the man who gave up on everything before he started and explained the way his Roujintsuu shaped this mindset, gave him two proper foils in Altjuna and Asvattaman, and position as a friendly enemy that can team up with the protagonists but always prioritizes his loyalties to the Crypters.
Meanwhile, his character in LB6 is more about Kirschtaria and Beryl than about himself.
The only thing cartoonish about him is his exaggerated fruitiness, which is completely consistent in all of his appearances. If it feels like LB6 has less of that, it's because Smoof and I were less competent as translators.
Two more NPC artists and background concept artist
Why are all artists that participated in LB6 suddenly posting images today? Not complaining of course, but my god if suddenly I started getting lots of recommendations for FGO content from Twitter.
