Crane's low numbers has more to do with the fanbase having a collective bad taste in their mouth over the Waltz Collab as a whole than there being widespread rejection of the character. Purely as a banner, Galatea was way lamer.
Ecchan is cute and Medb got a great costume, therefore the collab was good.

Personally, the best thing about Grail Live is that it comes with Strengthenings for many Servants, namely Nitocris, Serenity, Helena, and Medb.
Ushi finally got a p good costume and not looking like a striper was the saving grace.
And some other good costumes but that's it.

All a Strengthening is is a changing of a couple numbers gated behind some trash mobs plus a quartz. It takes barely any effort to create, and yet are given in pathetic numbers during special occasions. Buffs should have been given in regular balance patches except the makers of this game see balancing as content rather than fixes to the game. An event giving a bunch of Strengthenings isn't praise worthy, imo.

And another Strengthening, making her arguably the best Silver ST Rider.
Well, I only play FGO, so I can't comment much about other gacha's practices in general.
I've only ever played one other gacha game and quit that one years ago. So I wasn't making a comparison to any other gacha game.

And that's another thing I have umbrage against for Strengthenings. They often make stronger units stronger rather than fix any underpowered units. Look at how many low stars suck and yet it's Ushi that gets a buff.

The average male Servant performs a lot worse than the average female Servant
they also get put less effort in, on average
we had male japanese servants, NON SSR, dominate grail rankings twice
we will never have full-blown male servant event to see whether male servants actually perform worse than female ones
