Let's be fair, most of the units in Extra classes aren't historically accurate in the slightest (Ruler being the closest). With how few famous battle-based women there are in recorded history (note the "recorded"), it provides an avenue to bring in less famous women or those who aren't battle-based but can become battle-based for "reasons" and not be relegated to crappy Caster status.
Theoretically it should allow for more women without having to genderbend as well, but then we still end up with the likes of Hokusai and Van Gogh... and completely made up units like the Space units. And sometimes we get Space Genderbends...
Let's just not think about it too hard.

Never noticed how woman dominated Extra classes are. The ratio of female to male overall is about 2:1 in the game overall, and about 55:45 if we exclude Summer Servants. But in Extra classes it's close to 3:1 without summer servants, and 4:1 with them.
And ofc 5 of the 8 known Beasts are female, plus Olga if you count her. While all 8 Grand Candidates we've been told about are male, with only Artoria even being implied to qualify. Kind of funny.
Because the ones who channel gods through themselves are miko.
