im happy horseshoes are in the game, now i dont need to agonize over ascening Marie,Atilla or Medusa

They have a 17 AP free quest with 4 Lamias, 3 normals and 1 gold from what I heard.
So that might be the place for farming snake jewels.

Depends on what Buster Up CEs you have. Comparing the damage from three turns then codecast loses to basic 5* Shirou but not by much (using Herk's level 1 Bravery that's a x1.355 modifier for codecase vs. x1.38125 for 5* Shirou) but is better than the 4* Illya, both default and fully ascended (x1.27075 and x1.326, respectively)
Now for someone like Tamamo Cat who only has a two turn attack up then the first two turns are the same as above (x1.35 for codecast, x1.375 for basic 5* Shirou, x1.32 for fully ascended 4* Illya and x1.265 basic Illya), then for the third turn the Code Cast acts like a basic 5* Shirou, but after that nothing is advantageous for Code Cast.
Really it boils down to whether the Berserker could live 4 turns without Code Cast. If no then the Code Cast is likely better than a Buster Up. If yes then it's only weaker than a 5* Shirou.
