Honestly, i'd veto Charlemagne on the outfit alone.

Not to say that T-M outfits are historically accurate, but they -are- typically internally consistent within the same region/time period, whether its the general style of the Camelot Crew's platemail or the Celtic jumpsuits of olde Eire. The only exception is the Greek servants, but they don't come from the exact same area/time period either, whereas Charlemagne and the Paladins do. Given Astolfo's general look, Rainbow Saber would look very out of place as Charlemagne. Just my personal feeling.

Atilla or Xerxes seem like neat conceptual choices for it, though.

I know it's a long shot, but since bringing up the Gilgamesh thing earlier, I'm very much drawn to the idea of this Sabre being Ishtar.

I'm not saying there's a great amount of evidence for it, as a matter of fact, I've only got one thing solidly in common in that Ishtar was apparently a war god, but I'm just foolishly hopeful that this new Sabre isn't another genderbend hero.

I know it's a long shot, but since bringing up the Gilgamesh thing earlier, I'm very much drawn to the idea of this Sabre being Ishtar.

I'm not saying there's a great amount of evidence for it, as a matter of fact, I've only got one thing solidly in common in that Ishtar was apparently a war god, but I'm just foolishly hopeful that this new Sabre isn't another genderbend hero.

Unless Ishtar got a drastic redesign, Rainbow Saber's not Ishtar.

That's a doujin design btw. But since it was drawn by PFALZ who is not only Nasu-approved (and has designed ORT, the Great Demon Beasts, etc) but also part of the GO team I'd bet on it being made canon if it comes up.

I love the design for the Bull of the Heavens. Looks sick and makes sense in-myth.

Also Ishtar is an actual goddess, while rainbow Saber says she gained the power of the war god, which would be weird if she already was one.
