Game was better with Salt River, so people are letting salt flow to try to fix it.
Advanced Quests are permanent and some of the gimmicks present a decent challenge to a Servant/party
It's so fun to go through "kill this person or bring this type of servant trait to disable boss servant's defense up/stun gimmick" and "this boss can disable buffs!" 20 times
If only they drop rewards beside the first time.
I'm going to continue my grumpiness from when the Arcade collab was announced. Last time, I think, I was talking about how production pipeline being obviously so messed up means there's no way they're going to create a major event in time. This time,
There are two, and only two, reasons why anyone is excited for the Arcade. First and biggest is getting the exclusive servants. However you don't need to waste a collab slot to get exclusives, as shown by Proto Merlin in the last summer event. Also, it's pretty shitty Arcade is so looked forward to for the thing that made it hated in the first place. If you do something that puts you in the negative, undoing that should put you back to neutral at best, not put you up into the positive. It's like breaking something then getting credit for fixing it.
Putting that aside, Arcade has ten servants to give. Now for Kama Mistake, what a fitting name, and the Christmas servants, I would be shocked if they're anything other than low effort costumes so it's more like six to give. The six are Beast Nero, male Jacques de Molay, Tiamat, Noah, Sétanta, and Sita. Here's the thing, in all likelihood you are not going to get all of them.
Servant lists for each collab(+ is the rerun):
Garden of Sinners: Shiki, Void Shiki(2) + Fujino(1)
Fate Zero: Angra, Iskander, Kiritsugu, Hundred Face, Irisviel(5) + Saber Diarmuid(1)
Prisma Illya: Illya, Chloe(2) + Miyu(1)
CCC: Meltryllis, Passionlip, Suzuka, BB, Kiara(5) + Kingprotea(1)
Apocrypha: Achilles, Chiron, Sieg(3) + (0)
Case Files: Reines, Luvia, Gray(3) + Hephaestion(1)
Requiem: Voyager, Kijyo Koyo, Erice(3)
Waltz: Crane, Mysterious Heroine X Alter Idol*(2)
Learning with Manga: Super Bunyan, Daikokuten, Mary Anning(3)
*Seriously, a character meant to cull Saber numbers ended up doing the opposite.
So, most collab events have 2 to 3 servants on their first run. Even with the rerun that will come in two years, or more!, it's 4 at most. Thus at least 3 will be excluded with the number being reduced to 2 in at least two years time. Is it so bad that (spitballing on who would be the least popular) De Molay and Noah get skipped? Yes because, like I said at the start, this is the first of only two and biggest reason why anyone is excited is the exclusives. No other collab hinges its appeal so much on that. Take for example Requiem. Sure many were disappointed they didn't get, say, Galahad alter. However Requiem at least has a fanbase who like the work. Erice and Voyager tag along and the event has a Requiem story for the Requiem fans. That is good content for the target audience even if they wanted another servant. Does anyone like Arcade/does it have a fanbase beyond it being FGO but with better graphics(your milage may vary), better gameplay(your milage may vary), and the exclusives?
Now, you might say looking at the list, it might be like Fate Zero or CCC, and we do get all the exclusives. For Fate Zero, the roster was still being filled out and characters were much easier to make. It won't be like Fate Zero because unless they revert back to year one servant quality. For CCC, that was an extremely exceptional circumstance. What if that exceptional circumstance happens again? This brings me to the other reason why anyone is excited for Arcade.
Second, there is hope that it will be very good. More specifically, Arcade also has the exclusive Beast plotline, which is excepted to be continued/relevant/something to this collab. This means that it will most likely be a Beast story. Which means that it will be plot relevant. Which mean the event will have good mechanics, fights, and story as they put more effort into plot relevant stuff.
Maybe it will turn out bad, in which case I don't have to say anything more.
Maybe it will be good-ish. In this scenario, I could at least be a little accepting. I don't care care about any of the characters, I will have to endure the Beast's first ascension, another collab slot is wasted, and to my chagrin, Arcade gets celebrated for fixing what it broke in the first place. However at least there will be a little fun and it will end which means that I can hopium that next year the collab will be Mahoyo and not Grand Carnival. It would be disappointing for a Beast story, especially since Nero is suppose to be the strongest Beast due to first class planetary... something. I forgot. But Beasts have been disappointing since Kama and power levels are stupid so that can be overlooked.
Or maybe it will be SERAPH-tier, which is considered the best event of all time in polls. It will be so good that even I, the grinch on this event, will have to acknowledge its greatness. However, SERAPH was basically a miracle. I doubt it will ever be replicated for another collab but if it did, not specifically now. Especially with the production troubles FGO is currently having making that miracle replication for this event even more unlikely. I don't think of this as a scenario because I don't register this as a possibility. If it it happens I don't know how I would react. Sure, it would completely justify Arcade taking the slot and then some, but spending this much effort on Arcade of all things.
Expecting or even hoping for all the Arcade Servants is seriously misguided. Most of them are Arcade's versions of mobile's Servants lol. The only actual exclusives are Tiamat, Draco, Sita, Setanta, and I guess M!Molay. Noah is just Nemo with a skin and an AoE NP.
As for the quality of the event, who knows how good it'll be on a production level, but it'll almost certainly be written by Nasu and Sakurai, so I have decent expectations for the story.
Also... you're saying the only two reasons why anyone is excited is for new Servants and the story. That's kind of the main reason why anyone would be excited for any collab lol.
Can't wait for a collab-only GSSR banner/s in the future.![]()
Witness The Power Of The... Suicide Squad?
i just hope for a buff for Arthur so that the fucking spook i got back in january 2021 GSSR can see (some, will forever stay np1 so i dont expect much) use
One look at Noah's kit and you'll see why he's just a skin lol. It'd be very unusual to release a Servant of the same class and rarity with almost the exact same kit save for the NP that is just an aesthetic and lore upgrade from the original. The original Nemo would lose any value in mobile.
Noah has different skills and NP effects than Nemo, so in gameplay terms Nemo and Noah are completely different.
Even if they were more alike, and they didn't change Noah's kit for some reason, Nemo is a permanent SSR from 2020, I don't think they would have a lot to lose if they released a better, limited version. There's very few cases of old permanent SSRs that don't have a just as good or better limited option
Both Skill 1s increase party attack and NP damage, they differ in that Noah adds overcharge to the party and Nemo has an additional attack buff on water stages.
Both Skill 2s charge NP, they differ in that Noah's heals himself and Nemo's has guts.
Both Skill 3s increase arts damage and gain critical stars, they differ in that Noah's arts buff is personal and Nemo's has an additional arts buff on water stages.
And yes, as I've said, their NPs are different. But given that they're both 5* Riders, I have a hard time seeing Noah being added as a separate unit as much as Nemo being added to Arcade.
That's a fair point. Money is money, I suppose.
EDIT: This would actually be a good indication of whether we'll actually ever get Riastrad Cu.
