Now imagine that the Arcade event had the same quality as the Apocrypha event. I will split this into two possibilities:
1) The Arcade event's is a light heartened, probably gag, story where our Chaldea meets the Arcade Chaldea and wacky hijinks ensure. Since it's light hearted there's no Beast other than perhaps a namedrop. That could be alright except I haven't seen anyone who's looking forward to this event's story think it will end up like this. Maybe people will still be happy regardless since they get Tiamat. But that's what I mean when I say that one of the only reasons is that anyone is excited is the exclusives. Even with a story that no one had hoped for( as far as I can tell), they still like the event because they got Tiamat.
2) It will be a Beast story. If Beast Nero is defeated as easily as Darnic's grudge though, then we have a contender for lamest Beast. Unless that's already the standard for defeating Beasts in which case why are we still hyped for them?
Now maybe the story(and also gameplay and mechanics) will be very good, worthy of being a Beast story. You seem think that's likely because the writer will give a shit. I have ask though, do they? Beast's Nero story in Arcade is very barebones. It seems like none of the writers had a strong story they wanted to tell with her. It was foreshadowed for so long, not because they were they were building up something massive, but because none of the writers were ever bothered to write it. Like Prototype, it's something they care about enough to reference but not enough to write. Eventually Arcade went on an exclusive streak and they threw Nero in because what other opportunity will they be bothered? Now if the assumptions I made are true, then the writer doesn't give a shit and a strong story shouldn't be expected. Alternatively, they do care a lot about Beast Nero and the poor story there was simply due to Arcade's story limitations. That does display clearly the lack of artistic reasons for Arcade getting that plot. Arcade is a thief and they going to get rewarded for that by having more effort put into its event than any event other than SERAPH can dream of.
What does Salt River do that 2 doesn't?
