The title is a remix of the name of Bakins novel Nanso Satomi Hakkenden and he has another novel about Tametomo, Chinzei Yumiharizuki. He was also mentioned in Hokusai summers profile alongside Tametomo.

Bakin and Tametomo being used to tackle the relationship between an author and his protagonist has potential, but in an ideal, non-naritalocked world, we would have this theme being handled by Dumas and Dantes instead.

It's funny how Siegfried vs Tametomo gets hyped by the mats, but it's Astolfo who ultimately gets the gay rivalry dialogue with Tametomo. Not that I expect any follow-up since neither Siegfried nor Astolfo are in the support list.

He was not even close to his full potential when fighting Wukong in JTTW, and he returns to help Wukong later down the line. He was also stronger than Wukong, and in the novel he fought Wukong for awhile becuz the monkey king was smart and does a lot of different transformations to escape. And he returns to help Wukong later down the line during the buddhis scripture journey.

You might want to check out Fengshen Yanyi/Houshin Engi for more of his feats. He was a great ally of Taikoubou in the story, helped fighting the Four Heavenly Kings and Wen Zhong, uses the Taijitu to kill Xians and defeated a lot of yokai and Xians in the war of Xians.

I have read Saiyuuki (used Japanese because I read the book in JP language) and watched Chinese live action series of Journey to the West before so I know about their rivalry.

didn't know Erlang appears in Houshin Engi tho.

Did you know there is gonna be a new Erlang Shen movie scheduled for (hopefully) later this year? Is called 新神榜：杨戬, is a sequel of New Gods: Nezha Reborn (新神榜：哪吒重生). I totally recommend that movie if you're into some animated action and steampunk/cyberpunk aesthetics. The plot is a reimagining of Nezha's war against the Dragon Clan.

This is one of those times that the German/Norse split might come back to bite them as Högni in the Þiðrekssaga is the one who is half-elf whereas this tweet very specifically refers to the individual known as "Hagen von Tronje" from the Nibelungenlied who is not half-elf.
