Well, if you plan to go with waffles again, try maple syrup.

Or if that's too subtle, there was a sauce we had at the restaurant I used to work at called Maple Dijon. Basically equal parts melted butter and maple syrup with a bit of mustard powder mixed in.

I had maple syrup in on the waffles which is part of why it was so sweet! Or did you mean in the batter?

I've still got one chicken "patty" to have tomorrow night, this is going to be a more traditional burger though. Not sure what I could add with this, I might just mix some herbs and shit with my flower.

Also, the chicken patties I made followed a simple recipe: butterfly the chicken breast, then pound it with a mallet or fry pan to flatten it out. When the chef did it, they came out as nice, round, evenly flat patties.

When I did it, they were still extremely thick and not even at all.

I think my chicken breasts were too thick to begin with.

Yeah if you put it in the marinade the chicken absorbs more of the flavour itself, which also means you can use less on the sandwich to make it a bit cleaner. I know waffle sandwiches fall apart really fast. Or it frees you up for different sauces to have new flavour combinations.

As for the chicken, getting it round is a bit of a pipe dream without just cutting it in half like you did, but getting it even is just a matter of practice. The real trick is not flattening it too much and have it start coming apart.

So, uh... Don't judge me, but I've been thinking of trying to make Coke gelatin. I don't think that's going to be too difficult, but I wanted to add some pieces of fruit and was wondering what fruits (if any) would go well with it. Or perhaps I should try to add some marshmallows or similar?

Not really a fan of Solids in my gelatin, but if you want to do it, I have found that more acidic berries like Strawberries can make for a good contrast to the sweetness of the gelatin. Although I never had Coke gelatin, so I don't know if it is as sweet as most others.

I think so! Many years ago, there was a candy store near where I lived which sold Coke-flavoured licorice canes and they tasted awesome! I want to see how well (or not) the flavour would go with gelatin.

So while rummaging through our cupboard here, I found out that we had Cayenne pepper. Added that to the next batch of chicken borgers I made, and it is a definite improvement in flavour. I think I'm going to be eating borgers every week until I make myself sick of it.

Made homemade pizza today. Unfortunately, I feel that it ended up a little doughy, but apparently, I am the only one in this house that cares.

Unfortunately, pizza is just like that. Even if you think it turns out terrible, as long as it's edible no one else will really complain. You only ever notice the disappointment when you spend the time to make it yourself.

After the personal disappointment of Friday's pizza, I decided to good back to what I do best and make a banana cake today.
It came out perfectly. But honestly, if it had not, I would be devastated considering that I bake for a living.

Well, neither cherries nor strawberries are in season here, but I had a thought: what if I used strawberry- or cherry-flavoured gelatin? And so I did!

First, I made a strawberry & Coke gelatin on top of a straight Coke gelatin (not sure if the layers are easily-discernible, but they're there):



Then I made a cherry & Coke gelatin:



They don't look like much, but I've always favoured taste over looks, so that doesn't bother me.
Overall, the straight Coke gelatin is very bland; there *is* a taste of Coca-Cola, but it's just not strong enough. The cherry and strawberry combos were huge successes, though! The taste of Coke is perceptible enough, and it really complements the taste of the fruits.

8/10, will prepare them again!

Maybe try making some vanilla or cinnamon syrup to add back in some of the Coke spice.

Actually, you might need to add in some citrus as well, so you probably want some kind of combined vanilla cinammon syrup with lemon zest.

So, for curiosity sake, what is the best Coke flavor? I never had anything besides regular coke.

Cherry Vanilla. I can almost never find it here in Canada, so I have to rely on those drink fountain stations at fast food places that let you put all sorts of extra flavours in.

I have never seen anything like this here in Brazil, but it sounds pretty cool.
