    LotR defined much of my childhood fantasy genre reading. Before the movies, I might add. I read the Silmarillion long ago - went way over my head at the time I first read it. One of the reasons I like Terry Brooks, I suppose.

    Also I've heard nothing but good about Shadow of Mordor.

    Haven't actually read the simarillion yet lol. I do know the gist of the lore though. The details in the books make it so much more interesting for me. I love LOTR because it's more like a actual legendary saga or historical epic but with fantasy elemental incorporated without it making magic just seem normal. Middle earth seems much more real than generic fantasy world X.
