Especially for movies that's not true.
But then again you can't really compare an adaption of an anime cranked out on a slave driver production schedule that sells of brand recognition alone to a Koreeda movie.

When it comes to entertainment value, that is totally true.
Koreeda is comparable to an indy film director. He isn't doing blockbusters. Nobody knows what Nobody Knows is.

Maybe I just misunderstood you. That read like you thought they have a different value for good acting.
But we're on the same page. They know their TV dramas and shit are overacted drivel.
In any case the only good precedent I see for the GITS movie is Edge of Tomorrow since that's also Americanized and done by a major studio with stars attached to sell it. I don't think Oldboy or any Japanese adaption is really comparable. And it had a director with a meh track record. and it was also good so i am hopeful

Meanwhile live action Eva, Bebop, and FMP! still dying in a gutter somewhere.
Localizationing stuff
I didn't even know FMP was in talks.
I only know as far as Hollywood adaptions go there's still Akira and Battle Angel Alita dying somewhere. And since the latter is Cameron's own little baby it's not going to go anywhere near production as long as we don't have Avatar 3.

oh right didnt tom cruise want to do yukikaze, idk if he actually had the rights there already or not though

FMP! was in talks at least for a bit and there was buzz around that High School Musical guy that I don't ever remember the name to was gonna be the lead.
Localizationing stuff
Wasn't that many years ago? And I think it was just that the guy was a fan of FMP and would like to do a live-action but probably wouldn't or something.

tl;dr: Mandalay Pictures actually bought rights to it.
Localizationing stuff
Uh, I didn't know that.
They will probably stagnate like most live-actions anyway. Directors changes, scriptwriter changes, actor changes and that's if they decide to pursue this venture.
every movie is a project from a business standpoint
projects fail a lot more often than they succeed

Watched Into the Woods
It was... ok...
I feel like the plot was written to just shoehorn in as many musical pieces as they could so it ended up being random and disjointed.
Code:[07:55:59] <Spinach> Take off your clothes Kirby [07:56:07] <Kirby> I'm in class [20:37:34] <Lian|phone> there is a such thing as lingerie for guys? Efron as Sousuke? Not seeing it, though I think he'd make an okay Kurz (he has the looks but matching up to Shinichiro's voice ain't happening). Problem now is that I can't think of any young actors without having to resort to looking up random shows on Disney Channel or Nickolodeon, maybe Taylor Lautner?

Is it bad that I haven't seen predator, alien, terminator and loads of classic films (or most other films for that matter). Stuff like pulp fiction.
It's okay I haven't seen a single Terminator either.

Wait no that's not true I saw the reboot one.

Things like Predator and Alien aren't really something I'd call required viewing anyway. The only reason you'd need either is because nerd media likes doing epic references to those two, neither of them is really influential in any meaningful manner.
Alien I guess is influential but only for schlock and if you are a fan of horror schlock you already saw Alien anyway so lol.

I only saw the first Star Wars.
I see. What about Star Wars or other movies that people like referring?
