In order to save him from gradually losing his personality, El-Melloi II's party headed to Tokyo, Japan. There they are greeted by Ryougi Mikiya, who requests them to solve a kidnapping.
What happened to the supposedly abducted Yagou Akira? And who is the Wandering Sea mage blocking Ergo and Rin's way?

Bam! The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II's second volume, The Devilman of the Wandering Sea (part 1), releasing August 13th! The cover must have been a surprised to the readers who still haven't finished the first volume... Look forward to what is to come!

Honestly, I couldn't imagine myself ever writing Ryougi (Kokutou) Mikiya until very, very recently... Due to his sacred cow status among Type-Moon, my fingers are shaking as I type this tweet. Note that while you can start the Lord El-Melloi series from the first volume of Adventures, some lines and clues in it reference its prequel, Case Files.

Starting from Adventures is generally as doable as skipping Fate/stay Night to read Fate/Zero. Everything relevant will be explained again as you read, so anyone interested in this series specifically should keep this in mind.

Kara no Kyoukai is a very special story to me, and I vividly remember myself imagining how much I'd enjoy talking and collaborating with the author back when I finished reading the 2001 version. (When I brought my copy to a conversation with Nasu, he said I needed to seal that out-of-place artifact, if I recall correctly.)

That's precisely why I was so nervous to write Mikiya and so glad when Nasu approved pretty much everything on the first try (although I needed a lot of corrections for Mana's dialogue and personality, as expected for a character with barely any lines on her debut work). Writing this often took me back to 20 years ago, when I'd take walks under the cloudy sky thinking about how much I'd enjoy writing him.

One more thing about the cover. The cover composition was suggested by the Type-Moon team, as always. Since we're doing a new series, we decided to go for a different style from Case Files. Seeing Mikiya, Mana, and the name Wandering Sea all together in the same image, even feel like I opened a jack-in-the-box. I'm currently in the middle of writing part 2, putting some effort to make it as good as the first half...!

I think Akira is the teen too but not sure about the white-haired guy being Wandering Sea mage, though I'm certain he is a mage too due to those wings(?). IIRC the Wandering Sea mage is female according to the first vol, and personally I think their design will be saved for the novel (like Wuzhiqi and Latio) instead of being shown on the cover

Someone needs to inform the artist he got Mikiya wrong, he's not wearing ALL BLACK

I would say the same about Mana but she didnt have enough screen time...

Or maybe its just Takeuchi's lack of fashion sense cuz Kohaku's casual clothes were also just all black and even Ryougi's leather jacket was originally black when she bought it in the novel.
