Started to paly the Civ V demo to since I wanted to get the full game on Steam. Turns out I suck at anything related to strategy. How do I git gud with Persia?
V, not VI?
Persia's relatively vanilla, as civs go. Scout a lot early game, build a good few Immortals (Spearmen are a decent early-game unit and you might as well take advantage of the fact you've got a Unique Unit improvement on them), grab up a few good city sites with luxuries, gobble up happiness, try to build Chichen Itza. Extend those Golden Ages as much as you can. Prosper because you're wealthier and more productive than anyone else.

"FIRE THE NUKE!"
"No impact, Commander."
"Mmm. Try again?"
"Nothing."
"Okay, I build a nuke every ten seconds. We're going back to WWI. CREEPING NUCLEAR MISSILE BARRAGE."
And it worked.

My copy of Cold Steel II finally came in a few days ago.
For the first 15-20 hours or so I was kinda disappointed at its Act I but then the game really opened up and god it was great. The writing still feels a bit awkward but I'm finally feeling the excitement I should be feeling playing a Trails game, although for now my opinion is that even CSI is better. So far they haven't transitioned too well from a structured school-setting story into a more serious one.
Hyper light drifter is so good you guys
Just finished Tyranny.
While I don't regret my time with it, I gotta say, the ending is so dull and anticlimactic. It's got the same 90-10 quality problem of Pillars of Eternity, but in the opposite order, where the first 90% is great and the last 10% is crap.
Still, the spell creation system was a blast and I did genuinely enjoy the writing for the most part. I just wish they actually put some effort into finishing it.
Platted bloodborne and not feeling that great about it honestly- just kinda empty.
Been playing it local two player with a friend, it really is, but the lack of any sort of guidance or accurate map system and the complete lack of distinguishing between foreground & background and tree canopies & tree-covered doorways get old really, really quickly.
I get what they were trying to do, but the game isn't quite clean or well made enough to pull those off.

It's the lack of any colour other than black and grey.

Civ 6 is g-g-g-g-good
I do feel like there's a lot of room to expand on some stuff, though. Diplomacy isn't very nuanced (partly due to AI woes) and it kinda feels like there are gaps in the tech/civic tree; I'm consistently entering the medieval era while still in the BCEs.

Is it a good pickup, or is it a typical Firaxis pick-up-after-two-years-with-all-DLC-for-twenty-dollars buy?

Comparing it again to Civ 5, it feels more or less like an addition to that. Most of the expansion-added features, like religion and stuff, are in the base game of 6, along with all the new stuff. It feels like there's plenty to be added, though, so buy it if you want to; otherwise wait. Just depends on how much you want to play it, really. Personally, I do miss some of the civilizations from 5, but I guess that's always a trouble when going to a new Civ game. Carthage, I need you...
