Finished (or rather I should say 'knocked off') 2077. Won't complain further since my opinion remains unchanged, but I will note attempting to tackle the "secret ending" without being max level (even if you're only 4-5 levels off, out of 50) amply illustrates everything wrong with the combat/leveling system they chose.

Finally allowed myself to touch RDR2 instead, a game that's been on my PC since I first finished building it. The differences between these two games are like night and day, and I don't mean the setting at all. Where one is shallow, one is deep. Where one is repetitive, the other has unique interactions even in places you'd never expect. Where one gives you nothing to do, the other drops new challenges on you even in the middle of nowhere. If I have anything to complain about concering RDR2 it'd be the weird system they use for saving (I assume due to legacy of it being a console game) whereby the game basically keeps one autosave and updates it almost constantly, meaning if you make a mistake and want to roll it back you're SOL. Even if you had the foresight to make a manual save, for some weird reason loading a save (as well as a few other activities, like setting up camp) put you somewhere almost entirely random in the general vicinity of where you were. With saves I can guess this is to avoid soft locking yourself somewhere, but when it comes to camping it really sucks finding a lovely spot in the woods or on the side of a hill to camp, pushing the button, and next thing you know your camp is somewhere completely different.

As an aside (lol), finally FINALLY finished my first playthrough of WotR. I screwed up almost everything and it wasn't even my fault, sorry Anevia, Lann, Ember (I guess?), Seelah,and fuck you Daeran.
OTOH I think me dying caused Arue to become a NEET so maybe that was the biggest tragedy of all...

Lann: Didn't get him to settle his mommy issues (I think the quest bugged out as I was getting no prompts after a point). Didn't let him go commando on his personal quest as that resulted in him dying. He ended up indecisive and wishywashy.

Ember: I guess I wasn't sunshine and roses enough? She ended up afraid of her own power and bugging out of Mendev.

Seelah: I really have no idea what went wrong with her, I supported her in everything but apparently she still ended up unsure of herself or something.

Anevia: Got Irabeth killed, self-explanatory. I could have sacrificed the Sword of Valor and rushed to save Galfrey but it felt OoC to do it and I didn't have anyone else to keep it safe.

Daeran: Probably antagonized him too much, couldn't convince him to go with the nice Inquisitor so I had to kill said Inquisitor to not lose my Mass Heal machine. Apparently that gave him the wrong idea about what to do with his newfound freedom.

Oh and bonus round, Arue whom I had a perfect romance with became a dream junkie because I decided to jump into the Worldwound with my island in tow rather than throw Demon Mom in. And I made Aivu sad, too.

So ye that's basically half the party screwed over. Ironically the ones that got better off were the ones I WASN'T using (well, Sosiel still lost his brother, but at least he went out in a seriously badass way).

I did finish Ember's quest. According to a dataminer, her ending depends on how many times you went "go ahead and redeem everyone sweetie" vs "maybe these manifestations of primordial evil can't really change their ways?". If you lean too much in the second direction (how much is too much I'm guessing is more than twice, given Owlcat) she becomes "Lawful" Ember and smites some bitches up during her personal quest. Which she isn't happy about afterwards.

Daeran, well, I expected to get a suboptimal ending for him because I pissed him off big time in his party, but it still sucks that I killed an Inquisitor for this guy (should've sent him the way Cam and Wenduag went).

Jumping into the WW was suicide ye but it was just the thing to do for my Azata and tbh I was half-hoping I'd get a power of friendship ending, but I can live with that. Or I could live with that if I hadn't also fucked all these other folks up.

DLC 3 is in Midnight Isles BTW, finally getting the roguelike dungeon thing

I have no idea what to expect from EE but I'm hoping they fix some late game Mythics because lol Devil sucks balls even besides the fact that for some reason it recruits Azata (the full 180 degrees alignment) and not Angels (who have options to be all hellfire and brimstone)

and don't even get me started on Golden Dragon, sure of course I want to give up being an outsider to become a lizard... oh wait I could already do that with a spell anyway!

Finally finished AI the Somnium Files: Nirvana Initiative.

Honestly I'm enjoying both games in this series as the more "grounded" Uchikoshi work in comparison to Zero Escape. You still have to look at the appendix and timeline chart a few times to make sense of the twist, but at least there aren't any overtly supernatural/alternate universe/aliens/etc. thing going on (for the most part), and the mystery presented in the game actually has a logical (albeit somewhat complicated) explanation that doesn't feel like an asspull.

As for the game itself, I'm liking this one better than the predecessor. The characters are enjoyable, the jokes are less overused, and the Somnium levels are more narratively-driven rather than the sandbox design of the first game, which makes it flow better into the overarching story imo. In conclusion, gimme more of this series, Uchikoshi.

Okay I just saw this and while I understand your point, you can't call AI more grounded than Zero Escape in any way. ZTD shat the bed but even that isn't as absurd as half the scenes in AI.
Not to mention it does stuff that is just as fantastical as Zero Escape but simply doesn't explain it. We don't even get some pseudo science stuff to help.

Not to say I think that's bad though. I found Nirvana to be a big step down from the first one (somniums and abscence of porn magazines aside) but I still enjoyed it.

I started playing Soul Hackers 2, 2 hours in and I just cleared the intro/tutorial dungeon. It's SMT meets GitS. Or maybe Vivy is more accurate? Some pretty standard SMT stuff at the beginning. Each character gets to equip whatever demon they like and once they earn the final skill you get a bonus talisman with some related buff on it you can equip to any party member. No hot swapping Demons in battle though, at least not yet. And every round ends with an all out attack, but it's power is based on how many party members hit a weakness during their turn. So one weakness hit, one extra damage, three hits, triple the damage.

With how backwards compatible it is, a PS5 would probably be the better choice. If they actually existed in the wild. Or weren't about to priced out of the market. Or had a decent amount of internal storage.

The PS5 is absurdly expensive in Brazil. I spend a fair amount on entertainment but buying a PS5 would still be a multiple months-long commitment.
In the long run it'd probably be a better choice, because Switch games cost an eye and a leg, but I just can't go without Nintendo games so I'm just fucked.
