I restarted playing Xenogears and hit Disc 2. I kinda knew what was coming, but still wtf. It's like Eva TV down to the dude sitting in the chair with still images explaining stuff.
You can blame FF VIII for that, story goes that both Xenogears and FFVIII went in development at the same time and VIII went over budget and needed more money to be finished, guess where they got the funding from? by cutting off Xenogears budget. Leading to the second disk being a VN (Japan in general was in a big Evangelion haze att)

Xenogears... still my favourite video game OST of all time. Mitsuda FTW.

Actually I finished Xenogears today. Unfinished or not, I think the story in the end was too... I don't know... ambitious? They went for an epic scale, complicated backstory and a bunch of concepts that felt like an overload at times while a lot of character stories were shafted or lacked significance or ties with the larger story. It's still pretty good for a video game, but definitely asked for several games (and not a superlong one) to have the impact they wished for. Gameplay was just meh. The mecha parts were okay, but I would've liked more polish. Non-mecha parts were just a deathblow spam.
Started Xenosaga, seems like a decent movie so far. However sexy killer robots make my eyes roll nowadays.
