Local play with two people on a single keyboard across 20 different key bindings is actually a completely ridiculous impractical idea that has never worked in any game. The reason for that is that most keyboards let you hold 4-6 keys at max, so two players playing on the same keyboard are going to be ghosting each other and killing each other's inputs. You can connect absolutely anything else to the computer though (like a pad from your console, or a cheap knockoff one for a few bucks) and have one person play on the keyboard with hands nicely spread out and the other on the controller.

Melty is sometimes considered a keyboard game exactly because PC-only people with no idea about fighting games tend to wander to it from other TM media and then find out it's actually pretty tight. The basic button layout is trash though, people usually play on WASD and either directional buttons or numpad. Now, this sort of game is meant for an arcade stick or a pad where directions are on the left, but a keyboards's directions are on the right. Default melty key bindings are also this way iirc. Some people change it to play with their hands flipped for easier movement, some don't and just put the buttons on directionals/numpad.

If you're playing community version versus, you can bind your keys through ccaster. If you're playing steam version arcade, you can also bind your keys in settings. If you're playing community version/Carnival Phantasm disc arcade, you're screwed and have to use the default, but then CPU doesn't require to be an amazing player and people have played that way for a while. You could also use some keybinding software like joy2key I guess.

The games have begun, first in Brazil.

South SA bracket is going. Also, LunarPhaseLive is going to be hosting most of the streams throughout the weekend, including the Brazil top8 that's coming soonish, so you can just use that I guess so I won't spam it here too much.

You can tell they've played each other a lot over the past ~5 years Eika has been playing. Molty is from the Age of Gods, he is eternal.

NA East Coast top 8 is starting in an hour or two, the final stage. Still in pools now, and it has 64 people, so it's taking a while.

    -

Nevermind, rest of pools toward EC top 8 is on.

Since this got some people's attention, I guess I'll dump streams of regular tournaments here in the future.

By the way, Elegant Summer Concerto gathered 4000$ for the melty arcades like a-cho that have to stay shut. Cool stuff.

Is keeping arcades open in this day & age a good thing, though? Other than for the sake of nostalgia, I mean.

The arcade business model is like the earliest concept of a bad microtransaction, crossed with the world's shittiest lootbox.

Hello, small human! Want to play this game that's deliberately designed to look easy to play, but is actually deceptively difficult? Pay each time you die, which is often! Want to play with a friend? Pay double! Oh, you've spent a few hours here, used up all your pocket money? Wow, that's a lot of tickets you've got! You can buy, let's see... Ah! A splendid reward! Here's a pencil with an eraser on the end.

The TMDict has copies of some of the glossary text, at least. Nothing in terms of actual page images from a cursory look.
Type-Moon fans when they see six of something.

Thanks, but It's precisely those TMDict entries that made me curious about the manual itself... It's weird, is all, that this manual only exists online as those entries and TM wiki referencing said entries, as far as I can find. I'm curious how it looks, and I want to double-check some things.

Are there two different Boss Rush mods for MBAACC? I noticed that the translation in the version I see in YouTube videos is slightly different from the one I have. And they have a weird issue of next fight's opponent being in the cutscene regardless of whether they are supposed to be there yet (or at all). Here are some screencaps for comparison:
    The JP version

    The mod version I have

The mod version I found on YouTube

So what's going on here? I am fairly certain the one I have is straight from Mirror Moon site, but where's the other one from?

I was gonna talk about mirror moon's translation being different to the official, but that may be outside the question entirely. Still worthy of note, I think.

This is the right track. There are only two (more than most!) translations of MBAACC. The thing you claim is a modded version at the bottom that you found on youtube is just the official MBAACC translation you can find on steam.

(Taken from the steam version files)

Oh, so I was right on the money. What tripped me up was the youtube version purportedly being a mod, even though it has the steam overlay for the black bars.

I was convinced that no PC version of MBAACC had the Boss Rush, which is why I assumed that it's also modded in.
So the Boss Rush is actually in the Steam version... Does it need to be unlocked by beating Arcade Mode with all characters? And is the "next fight's opponent being in the cutscene regardless of whether they are supposed to be there" thing an occasional glitch or a universal issue with it?

The boss characters, the sprites, and the way they are meant to be arranged to go alongside the narrative, all that is in the files, but you have to patch it to unlock it. Besides this, there is a lot of other leftover stuff in the assets, pretty much all content from previous games. Some of it can be restored, some of it can't. For example, Mecha Chaos 666 no longer works because he's an Act Cadenza asset. Similarly, I don't think I've ever seen ReAct Powered Ciel pulled out of the files, but then she is just very strange all around.
At some point during MBAACC's development, it appears that there was supposed to be an Eclipse moon for every character, kind of like Gold characters in Guilty Gear or Unlimited characters in Blazblue. But this turned out to be way too much scope creep, so it has been dropped. Still, some Eclipse moons that never made it into Arcade or Boss Rush have obviously had work done on them. Additionally, only a few Eclipse characters actually have Eclipse meter mechanics (gaining meter constantly) and Gold Shield. I don't really remember everything perfectly, but I think this is about it?

Complete characters, not pickable in character select:
    - Dust of Osiris is the game's designated boss character not present in character select. Eclipse Dust of Osiris is fought at the end of Ries Arcade A Route and Boss Rush. She is pretty much the same as the regular DoO except that her AAD is unshieldable (very mean of you Kamone).
    - G-Akiha is only fought in Boss Rush. She is very much updated from ReAct G-Akiha.
    - Eclipse Ries is a complete character playable at the end of Ries Arcade B Route.
    - Eclipse Aoko is a complete character in that she's just ReAct Aoko updated to function in MBAACC. She is fought in Boss Rush. She also has 9 double jumps because why not and she WILL combo you into the ceiling.
    - Eclipse Hime is a complete character fought in Arcade if you double perfect too many fights.
    - Eclipse Warachia is fought in Boss Rush, he's based on ReAct Warachia and is missing a few moves, but iirc he has a somewhat different CPU from regular Warachia.
    - Eclipse Miyako is fought in Boss Rush, she's 'based on ReAct Miyako', but only thing special about her is that her arc drive does a gorillion damage.
    - Eclipse White Len is fought in Boss Rush, she is actually based on her ReAct self in that she retains the funny icicle multihit.
    - Eclipse Kohamech is fought in Boss Rush, she is pretty much regular C-Kohamech except that Mech will shoot an eye beam at you, or will shoot THREE skirt bombs at you every time Kohaku gets hit, or gets up from the ground.
    - Eclipse Ryougi is fought in Boss Rush. She is a 'complete character' in that she's just C-Roog who can charge EVERYTHING into an unblockable. But the CPU doesn't really do this, so all she gets as a boss is Eclipse meter.
    - Eclipse Arcueid is fought in Boss Rush, though the game calls her Eclipse Archetype:Earth. She is largely just C-Arcueid. One thing you find she has if you actually force her to be playable is pink bloodrings, but the CPU doesn't really use them. It does use the teleport that puts her airborne behind you so she can j.C you in the back of the head. Also a cool super where she does 236C with AD animation and Archetype appears behind her.
    - Eclipse Akiha can be patched to be selectable, but it's just regular C-Akiha I think. The REAL Boss Akiha is Vanilla PS2 Half-Moon Akiha, fought in Boss Rush, who is a different character from regular Current Core 1.07 H-Akiha. Vanilla HAki is extremely funny, because the only thing her CPU does is a full 2a starter 6000 damage combo into safe projectile 50/50 oki. Also, when she comes up, the CPU will switch into hardest the way Street Fighter arcade bosses do, so don't think she can't punish your minus frame or anything.

    Some other stuff:
    - Eclipse warc has a fullscreen ex bloodring apparently based on vsion's drill animation turned red, but no other moves. This is a regular special move that has an ex flash, for some reason. One can imagine she was considered for boss rush alongside the rest of the cast.
    - Various other characters can be selected as Eclipse moon, but typically they're either the C-Moon with nothing special, or have no moves at all. Sometimes they have minor things, it's possible some of them have been used as test characters for other moons. Hope I am not forgetting anything important.

Anyway, the community boss rush patch unlocks the boss rush and translates it. There is no steam translation because it's not, technically, a part of the PC port, much like for example the track for Ryougi's stage, which is still in the files, but can't be used due to copyright issues. Considering that you fight Ryougi there in the Boss Rush, that might be why it's not in the game.

I am confused. Are there or aren't there two separate mods/patches?
I can only find the Mirror Moon one: http://mirrormoon.org/2016/10/mbaacc...1031-released/
It says that it only works with the original Japanese game and does not work on the Steam version.

Is the "community boss rush patch" Ratman mentions the same as the Mirror Moon one or is that something else? Is that one for the Steam version? Where can I find it?
