@Deathhappens: Meh, that probably won't happen until the families of the Republican lawmakers start dying in these things and/or groups like the NRA and GOA lose their capacity to lobby or even really just inform voters about pending policies and bills. That still won't do anything about the massive numbers of guns on the streets already, either. There's something like 3 guns for every American citizen in the US, many of them in the hands of people who won't willingly sell them to the government or otherwise turn them in to the authorities. I mean, this is a country with a growing "Sanctuary County" movement, where local sheriffs actively refuse to enforce gun restrictions because they consider such laws unconstitutional and therefore illegitimate, unenforceable, and illegal. Guns and mass-shootings are here to stay. There isn't enough will to prevent them here. You can't even get people to move on preventative measures that don't require taking peoples' guns, like getting universal healthcare that includes mental health evaluations and therapy. No part of that flies here, either. Honestly, it astounds me that the Trump administration actually banned bump stocks, which they only did after advance warning so people could buy them first and with no actual enforcement of the ban unless you commit a crime with one.
