It's just... Really? This was so important to you that your government has to act on it? Seems to me that's an indication the CCP has no confidence in its ability to win the hearts and minds of the Chinese people under its own merits. It's like announcing to the world you have no faith in your ability or ideology if anyone is allowed to see any kind of alternative perspective, if even a damn video game or some online fat jokes are a serious threat to your government.

No, China didn't ban the damn video game. You can still buy the digital copies of it without problem, but the retail copy was problematic since there is one shop that bought 6000 copies of the game and tried to rise prices to ridiculous level. Heck you still can see the game being livestream in Bilibili and other platform in China.

Well, the White House needs to make sure the anti-Chinese sentiments are high so they can reignite the trade war or start and actual war after the crisis to get back money and to divert attention. You also need these sentiments to move your production back since giving them the hate of treason for working with China will have less backlash. It is working I believe. Besides, when does the America government care about the poor?

Welcome to capitalism. And people go "but the Soviet Union was eeevul!" even though they missed the point the guys they often faced against were worse and the more repressive regimes (North Korea, Maoist China, Hoxha's Albania and Caecescu Romania) were all but disowned by them at varying points in their lifetime.

Even with the phantom of nuclear war, they pushed the West to do good because otherwise they would lose allies to them. Now there's no one to provide an alternative, they can just go full retard.

I suspect you'd have a similar problem in a Socialist or Communist country under lockdown and lacking sufficient storage space. Unless they were prioritizing building infrastructure over controlling viral spread.

That said, it's an utterly disgusting waste that comes from the way we handle resources and commerce globally. When the supply chain breaks down, there's just not enough places to store goods, especially perishables and things you can't really stop producing, like foodstuffs.

In hindsight it could be mitigated to a degree by building redundancies into storage capacity, which is where the Capitalism angle starts to really be felt, since doing so isn't cost-efficient for the private sector or the public, even when it's feasible. In a command economy, you could just force it in preparation for possible disasters. I mean, just look at China's growth-inflating public works projects; a lot of whst they produced has little practical utility under normal circumstances, but could be invaluable in the right kind of crisis.

the sole problem is that in capitalism the goods are produced not as readily usable goods, but as commodities, something to be sold, to make profit off, instead of things to be properly distributed based on needs.

Overproduction demonstrates the necessary contradictions of a system that has the potential to produce real abundance, yet under which that very potential causes a breakdown every time it builds up. In the classical epoch of industrial capitalism the cycle reflected the system’s initially progressive role. The class struggle compelled the capitalists to advance productivity, accumulate more and more means of production and therefore to produce useful commodities more cheaply. For the first time in history, scarcity – with all its endemic misery, starvation, wars and pestilence – was no longer an inescapable part of human life.

Afterwards, it falls into the same trap that every other system does; once power becomes consolidated in a place, it becomes steadily easier to do so until it becomes a monopoly whose only limit is itself. As voluntary regression to an inferior state of being is anathema to human psychology, those who have power refuse to relinquish some of it for the greater good and to better stabilize their own system. In essence, the prioritization of instant gratification over greater long-term growth, stability, and sustainability.
