I just get a little weirded out when you try to frame the EU as the realm of evil closed borders who never have to deal with immigration and the US immigration policy as anything other than completely insane because intra-country mobility is incredibly high here, as well as acquisition of citizenship being a lot easier.

And then people point to the US and see that insanity as somehow a preferable state of affairs even here.
