Well, it's really a "free" market, if it's being tainted by government influence, especially if that government is a foreign dictatorship.

Yes and no. See, the problem there is that the free market principles will go and do whatever supply and demand dictate in order to access the largest overall market. Governments effectively operate as Demand; in order to access their market share, you must provide what they want. As China represents a massive market share with high growth potential, it's inevitable that it will gain tremendous influence over any industry seeking its share.

This is essentially why Conservatives have problems with social media as well; their behavior is a turn-off to the larger market share that Liberals and Progressives represent. In order to keep that larger revenue stream, they'll happily maintain policies that Conservatives don't like.

Of course, that balance is ever frail and needs constant surveillance and awareness, and most people utterly lack the latter and fail at the former.
