But M4A will definitely be an expensive system regardless of bureaucratic efficiency. The American diet is horrible and will be a major reason why the entire system will be expensive. But good food is expensive in the States as compared to cheaply and horrible junk food right? Walls of capitalist you need to tear down for real change, and people don't want that. Pretty sure the sentiment will change once the hard times are gone.

How willing are you guys willing to pay 12-20% more on you taxes for M4A?

Finally a tax increase that actually benefits me. Never mind that, for the overwhelming vast majority of people in the US, they'd be paying less or no worse than they already are now if treating all out-of-pocket expenses and premiums as an actual tax. Best yet, people can start to make the claim of "right-to-work" with some level of legitimacy since employers can't hold their employees' health hostage for shit wages and/or treatment.

I think it's different because obesity are in many cases direct contribution to why people frequently get major health issues as they grow older. I don't want to force people to live a certain life, and yet I also can't deny the fact that a population with poorer health due to poor personal diet will inevitably burden a system that benefits society. If not fat shaming, then at least stop encoruaging fat acceptance.

I'm not sure is there a practical way to solve this problem other than self control, and encouraging a more healthy diet. But I think social pressure is also necessary for people to change an hard habit.

Tbh, fat shaming isn't exactly the answer there. The reason why people eat poorly here is more complicated. Decent food is both expensive and time-consuming to produce and requires a degree of financial and housing stability that a lot of people lack. It is faster, cheaper, and easier in many cases to simply buy fast food, or take processed, pre-packaged foods that are loaded in salt, sugar, saturated fats, etc... rather than buy more expensive fresh foods, prepare them in a manner that demands both equipment and competency that may not be available, and find the time to do the clean-up afterwards.

Good food is a luxury, to the point that we have so-called "Food Deserts," where even getting fresh food may require hours of driving with no ready means to produce at home or even a vehicle to go purchase some in.

Nevermind that it's financially unsustainable to produce enough actually healthy food to feed the population here. If we went all organic, we'd have a mass die-off because the price of food would skyrocket and the producers here couldn't keep up. Nor would they want to. There's plenty of corporations that will fight tooth and nail to keep us eating the same trash.

Vegan or no, Fast Food is both the lifeblood of the poor and our bane. We let the alternatives get crushed by the corporate interests and the culture wars.

Government of states with state based insurance do in fact encourage their population to keep healthy but so far I have not seen the police chase down fat people with a dog or anything.
