Twelve, none of the changes throughout history were easy, and yet they still happened. Not because of some overwhelming current, but because people fought for them. It's difficult, it's painful, and people will have to continually struggle to not let things regress, but it *can* be done.

You clearly haven't been reading the history of the US up until now: McCarthyism, the Red Scare, the Hollywood blacklists, the assassinations, NSA spying... The US was and remains too stubborn to change. You need a second Civil War where the Dem states essentially pulverize the South and rural areas and the charge is concluded by legions from the most advanced states to get the kinds of sweeping changes you want.

Civil War itself needs the US to undergo a public schism. Right now, like in the Cold War, we have a divide, but no state has said "change or we book out/screw your budget" and stuck to their guns.

The US has few actual liberals and most are just the Hollywood brand who loves to make a fuss and then go back to the Apple Store to purchase another set of Airpods for $199.00 plus tax even though they might not have enough food for next week.

Also apparently not what happened. Apparently they were out there to have their photo taken clean the statue and were sent away because they're rich white politicians that have never cleaned anything in their lives and would damage the statue. They then got a professional cleaner in to do the work.

Still remarkably tactless, but not quite as much as getting a Black man to clean it for them first and pretending they did it.
