Mmm, basically it's just that they're caving to social pressure from Conservatives and washing their hands of it. Despite setting the rules in the first place. They want to appeal to both sides of the mask divide, but I suspect it's not going to work; though maybe it will reduce the number of altercations between staff and shoppers over it, it would also potentially reduce their risk of lawsuits.

Having worked at one for several years, I know from experience that they give zero fucks about their employees. This is all about the money.

Because nobody in power cares much about Black people beyond how some Blacks (e.g. Obama probably most prominent one in recent history) are able to cajole their peers into supporting policies that ultimately don't benefit them. John Lewis' funeral is a perfect example of this, as someone like Bill Clinton only cared about him because of Lewis' largely figurative victory when it came to the Voting Rights Act, but note how nobody talks about Selma, MLK's hometown, being anything but a shithole nowadays because simply giving people the ability to vote doesn't mean much when the wealthy choose to leave and face no repercussions for killing the local economy there.

The only thing Republicans, as a whole, liked from Cain is that he lobbied for the Restaurant Industry to fuck over tipped working wages, freezing them to $2.15/hr or something.

How would that even work? You might be able to lobby google and apple to take it off the app store, doubtful seeing how much they hate Trump, but people can still get it from the internet. Would cops start doing stop and frisks to check to make sure all your apps are government approved? For someone who hates China, he's certainly taking a lot of cues from them. You're overestimating how much people care about any social media. If it's not readily and easily available on their smartphones, less and less people will use it, until eventually everyone moves on to the next fad.
