Are you kidding? There are basically four things keeping Republicans relevant politically at this point; the electoral college, the fact that the Senate guarantees two seats to every state, the gerrymandering processes tied to the census that let them keep huge systemic advantages in the first two, and the courts. RvW is just part of the agenda, and one that they don't honestly want to repeal due to its power to motivate their base. However, so long as they can keep the courts, they can continue to rig the rest of the system and fill their pockets with taxpayer dollars and huge donations with impunity.

That's the real reason why they want to hold the courts. The actual leadership doesn't give a fuck about the interests of the Base beyond how those interests can be manipulated to remain in power. The Trump era has shown this extensively. The rare few Conservatives with something resembling values and integrity have all bowed out or been driven out, while the Base at this point just cares about staying in power and forcing its positions on the disagreeing majority of the country.

I wonder. It's such a good campaign issue that it's almost a loss for them to actually do something about it. But perhaps I am being too cynical and they'll actually follow through on 40 years of promises when the chance finally presents itself.

The thing is, those that are active critics are not clean themselves, so the public in China really doesn't care as long as the CCP continue to ensure their livelihood. Heck, some even clap hands when Xi take down the rich since many classify them as boot-licker of the West.

The thing is, Trump's actions really destroyed the traditional perception of USA to regular Chinese people, so for now, we don't seem that bad at all. Some even believe that the difference between China and USA is that China's control over the media is weak compared to USA since many of us didn't know about how serious the protests were in over there while we almost know stuff immediately about our place over here.

Meanwhile, no charges actually filed against the three officers who shot Breonna Taylor on a no-knock warrant while she was in bed asleep in her own home. At least in regards to her killing. Two were just fired. One faces charges related to firing into someone else's home during the incident.
