The only reason Beijing allows that much in Hong Kong in the past is due to the need of setting a good example to Taiwan and in fear of Western backed retaliations. Since relations are pretty much rock bottom with Taiwan, and USA is playing around with bills that will directly interfere in Hong Kong affairs which is a big no to China, there is no longer a need to open and close one eye at Hong Kong's actions. Just like how Spain dealt with the Catalan movement, China will eventually do the same to Hong Kong. Only difference is the west stay quiet on Catalan, but will bitch about Hong Kong.

The only way something remotely similar to China's handling of HK might happen in Spain would involve the UK giving back Gibraltar, which ain't happening.

Or that the Native Americans and African Americans should be allowed to use biological and chemical weapons and enslave white people. The list goes on and on and on throughout history

Within reason, I'd say. Blanket applications of "forgive and forget" tend to only benefit those in power, who also tend to be the same group who pulled all that shit throughout history in the first place, and in many cases *still* pull that shit.
