Skepticism fostered by propaganda administered by bad faith actors to a certain portion of the masses, lots of people in positions of power thinking they can cash in and take advantage of the situation mainly due to how normally it doesn't affect them, the love of money being the root of all evil, lots of different things.
Moreover it's not just western civilization, a lot of these things are human weaknesses that can show up anywhere.

Personally, Taiwan's strategy to tackle the virus is good. 3 years and 300W fine is good enough to prevent information from spilling out. So nicely done that I must say they are really part of China.

No. I mean misinformation is causing plenty of trouble around the world, so making rules to ensure only the government can make statements is better than letting rumors fly. I had to convince my grandparents NOT to stock up food because they heard from our Taiwanese relatives that China is in famine right now. And they have already stocked up to 50 kg of rice.

no? It’s not contradictory to to say that while I wish they didn’t have to risk their lives, the fact that they were willing to do so gives the lie to any talking point about how Biden can’t drive people to the polls.

Just seems weird that you keep placing responsbility on Sanders specifically when one could just as easily say Biden should have dropped out, particularly when the actual responsibility lies with neither of them.

Honestly I sometimes wonder if sanders didn’t hope that Wisconsin delayed it’s primary, he could make it to the debate in April, squeeze out a few more progressive promises from joe and then negotiate his surrender, but after Wisconsin he knew that a month or so of news reporting that people had been willing to risk their safety to vote against him would mean that by April he wouldn’t have any leverage. or if you want to give him the be if it of the doubt, perhaps he believed that no states would hold a vote between now and the aforementioned debate, so when a vote actually did occur he dropped out to save lives, rather like I have been saying would be the moral choice. That’s just an aside though.

at any rate not to retread old ground but see Biden had already won the primary by Wisconsin. It’s great the voters turned out for him but the hilariously tear inducing tragedy of it is they actually really didn’t need to do so. That’s what’s so stupid you have to laugh so you don’t cry or scream.

biden shouldn’t drop out to keep people home, because he had already won. Bernie could have dropped out because the only difference between today and a week ago is now sanders and his supporters have acknowledged that.

This talking point has no legitimacy. Wisconsin and Supreme Court forced the elections to happen anyway, so Bernie's presence had no impact on people showing up.

And yes, I still stand by my earlier statement that the DNC could have done something else with regards to Primary voting that didn't require people to show up because of the 2016 court ruling regarding how the DNC can pick its candidate. Sure, the legal/official vote would be one thing, but they could have released a statement that said that it wouldn't use the votes collected by Wisconsin for Primary purposes, citing coronavirus concerns, and instead released some alternative measure (mail-in ballots, online voting, etc) specifically for the Primary. It didn't, and Biden is still on the record for encouraging people to vote in person twice now during a pandemic.

You know that Biden won't win Texas. He won't even win any of the southern states that he had blow-out primary support because those are diehard red states.
