It looks like it will be new seiyuus. Kaoru new seiyuu is actually so similar to old so at first I thought it's the same one, but I'm worried about Kenshin's voice, it is pretty iconic for me.

While I agree, Fuck Him, there's so many hidden (and open) assholes around it feels almost impossible to find something without one. That game series you like? Crunched their staff to mental breakdowns. That mystery movie? Turns out a lead is a wannabe cannibal. Dragon Quest? Koichi Sugiyama.

The reasons may be that last manga arc wasn't adapted before neither by TV or OVAs and if remake will continue till it fans of the original will be very interested in it, and also that Hokkaido arc manga is currently ongoing. At least I'm certainly looking forward to it, although I'm worried about seiyuus and hope they won't make it edgy like Shin Kyoto Hen was. And fortunately it looks like Japanese don't particularly care about author's accusations.

I'm not blind to the issues that the gaming and anime industry workers go through, and it's hard to navigate what to support or not when these issues are so widespread, true. That said, many of the artists involved are passionate about their work and the entertainment/artistic value it caries, so it's not entirely a bad thing that these games and shows were produced. Nor do I feel guilty watching it (well, depending on the situation).

This is a different matter entirely and the parallel you're trying to draw doesn't work. This man is a pedophile that avoided any meaningul punishment for the harm he caused and I'm not going to support him financially. Nor am I going to give him free publicity by discussing this series without mentioning his crimes.

And fortunately it looks like Japanese don't particularly care about author's accusations.

Still wanting to consume content he created despite his crime is one thing. I think it's morally reprehensible but there's still space there for different views.

The punishing/not punishing is something law enforcement agencies should care about, not manga industry. I don't know what exactly was his case and convictions, but the fact that he is not in jail means that his crimes weren't considered serious enough for that.

And also yes, I believe that person's work should be judged independently of his morals - otherwise it will be like calling Lovecraft's fiction bad because he was a racist. So even if Kenshin's author were a criminal there is nothing wrong with respecting and reading his work.

It's not about judging whether or not Samurai X is good, it's about supporting a pedophile.
Lovecraft is dead. Watsuki is alive and will profit from the money and publicity he gets from this. Supporting his IP is supporting a man that contributed to children being harmed and whose crimes were ignored.

It's not like he avoided jail by some unlawful method - in Japan penalty for possession of CP without the intent of distribution is up to 1 year jail or fine up to 1M yen (and before 2014 it wasn't even a crime). So for them it's not very serious crime and they are pretty ok with working with someone who broke that law. You may think this is wrong - but than your problem is not with author, but with Japanese moral and law itself.
