That 'supposedly' really stands out. Looking back, Total Eclipse was a mess with a catchy OP, and I don't even remember the name of the Cold War one. Would an Alternative anime be anywhere close to as impactful as the VN without doing the routine dating sim season first?

The "supposedly" is there because nobody really knows what this anime is going to be about. All we know is that this anime is related to the real Muvluv Alternative in some way. The trailer also features the custom mecha of Meiya, one of the 2 main heroines. But Kouki was talking in an earlier interview how he doesnt think an orthodox, straightforward anime adaption of Muvluv Alternative is doable. Alternative itself is really long as its just one single route but still is like 40 hours, and it requires some degree of familiarity with the peaceful Muvluv universe (Extra) AND since its a loop/new game+ story it requires Takerus first failed run (Unlimited).

my stance towards adaptions of stuff i really like has with time shifted to "fuck the anime onlies i am the only one that matters" so id be OK with them just doing Mubrub Orta. Well, no matter what it ends up being its gonna be the debut of the main muvluv charas on animated media (barring cameos in other anime).

Unfortunately the "screw setup, let's just do the good parts" mentality is normally reserved fro OVA's that you know are only going to seen by people invested in the property already.

Depends on the manga. Sometimes there's using a tablet to work with Photoshop and such, sometimes there's Gantz-tier photograph compositing and CGI.

It's probably going to be like a standard Tokusatsu show "sequel" in which it's not really a sequel at all but a brand new story & cast with Gridman maybe showing up in a crossover episode.
