That's the point. They're the real timeless classics precisely because they are that old. I mentioned comparing a sun to a glowworm, not an angler fish to a glowworm.

There is the other usage of timeless as well, as in a work that's as appealing today as it was back then. If that's the definition they're going by then a bunch of older things might not fit because they hold too many antiquated ideas. Like the Bible being okay with slavery, the Illiad/Oddessy being down for rape trophies, Holmes breaking out the frenology, and I'm sure plenty of shit in Three Kingdoms.
The kind of thing where you have to say "It's a product of it's time". The better way to categorize it would be "Stood the test of time" and "Could have been written today", but language sucks and we default to the easiest word rather than the most accurate.

Can the Epic of Gilgamesh really be called a timeless classic though? In popular memory it's about the same age as Tale of Two Cities. If a certain set of Assyrian rocks hadn't happened to be dug up, we'd have no clue as to its existence.
<NEW FIC!> Revolution #9: Somewhere out there, there's a universe in which your mistakes and failures never happened, and all you wished for is true. How hard would you fight to make that real?

Tale of Two Cities is still 150 yrs old, so almost twice Tolkien's age.

I'm reading Paradise Lost, neat idea of mentioning Cronos among the fallen angels because in the myth he rebels against Heaven (Uranus)
Moreover, Chaos must be a chill guy to let Satan and his friends urbanize his territories
No one really knows what people were thinking back then, so feel free to brainstorm, but as you know, Nobu claimed descendancy from the Taira. Did someone ask, or like taking the title of Demon King, was it to send a message?
As you know, both the Bible and Journey to the West claim to provide "moral" lessons but just end up saying that morality is nothing more than obedience. However, Journey to the West is a bit more honest about it. Unlike Yahweh, the Jade Emperor is not presented as a moral absolute (unlike Buddha, who has not yet been introduced to the story), but despite that, during that scene where Wukong is being escorted to his (eventually failed) execution, there is a full poem about obedience to authority (which again appears to be in regards to obeying the Jade Emperor, due to Buddha not showing up yet).
are you at the very least interested in maturing?

Oh, is my analyses on these texts wrong (if so how), or do you just plan to fling around idle insults?
I'm asking you a genuine question

Spoiler:
So am I.
You deliberately hatepost on anything moral
Why exactly would you care enough to do this if not for the biggest delayed adolescence crisis
Like I genuinely could not imagine another reason that would make you this obstinate
Call me 想φαγω.
Spoiler:
IDK, did Max Stirner have a "delayed adolescence crisis"? Again, instead of trying to counter any of my points, you go straight for well poisoning. Funny how Gau called me an "authoritarian", and then when I mock a classic work for writing a full paragraph's worth of poem praising authoritarianism, I'm the one "called out for hateposting". Want to call me an sociopathic egoist while you're at it?

I suspect everyone in this forum has tried to argue with you at some point, but you don't collaborate at all. Every time you jump to an idolistic analogy, then a straw-man stonetoss, then victimization, and end it with an unbearably poorly edited 40 minutes video with an argument that amounts to "because I said so". Your argumentative skills are so bad it makes everyone question if you are deliberately sucking at it out of spite. You need to colaborate for a discussion to happen, and there have been too many times you haven't for anyone to dare try again.
Call me 想φαγω.
Spoiler:
>argument
>collaborate
Pick one. One is working on opposite sides. The other is working with. Unless you mean a fake argument that just ends with a circle jerk. I also note that we are going from talking about my "moral hateposting" to just attacking me in general. What does any of this have to do with my initial post?
My opinion is better than your opinion, so it isn't up for debate.
... Why is the first result when I try to look up this word from Urban Dictionary? Now, shut up and eat your English Breakfast. Urban Dictionary.
Ah, the same energy as saying telling someone that you will put them on Ignore. I cut people off much easier. It only took 1 message from someone that I was supporting on Patreon that Patreon was getting on their case about loli art for me to completely nuke my Patreon account entirely. No further messaging beyond what was needed to do so.

Or a hot take, though my current opening post was more of a lukewarm take, anyway.
Again, no one has yet to actually gainsay my initial post. At this point, I'll just call all of you fucking morons.
Better than anything you've ever posted to be fair.
