Let's not bring the bedroom into this
Does D&D have any systems in place for role playing people playing a D&D game?
I mean a system for abstracting dice rolls with dice rolls, not rolling the dice directly, that’s just LARPing
Sounds like you're looking for a dice alternative, like if you were going play in the RP section here rather than on a site with an integrated dice roller, like Roll20.
AfaIk, no, but you could probably throw something together based on a combination of a "roll pool" and story rewards for in-character behavior, tactics, and dramatic tension in scenes.
If you're looking for an actual in-game rule set for a game-within-a-game a la .hack, there's nothing specific. I'm fond of using 4e to represent the game the PCs play and another edition for the game the PCs are in when dealing with a scenario where the PCs are themselves playing a tabletop game.
If you're just trolling a bit, then carry on.

Mhm, and come to think of it, there's also Profession (Gambler). Iirc, Age of Worms used that to represent playing a multi-tiered chess expy.

I remember Classic Deadlands having one or two interesting sub-systems for gambling that were a bit more than just straight skill rolls. I'd have to re-read the book to remember what they were, though.

Diablo: Descent
“I have walked the paths; the shadowed roads
that led to terror’s breast. I have plumbed the depths of
Hatred’s womb and scaled Destruction’s crest.
For every secret left unveiled, for every power learned,
I’d sell the remnants of my soul, regardless how it burned.
And still I sought a higher wisdom few could have attained.
‘Though I found it, it would leave me - broken, damned and drained.
For now I find this power gained is more unto a curse.
My spirit burns with every spell and each irreverent verse.
Despite this strength and knowledge earned, I have paid a heavy toll,
Never should’ve traded power for my own immortal soul.”
Welcome to Diablo: Descent, a D&D 5e game! This game takes place in the sleepy farm town of Tristram. Play as adventurers called from far and wide to test their mettle against the dark cathedral looming in the despairing farm town. You will play through a story as you pursue the various mysteries and trials of the cathedral, slaying demons and plundering treasure along the way. You don't need to have played Diablo; it's still D&D, but with a different setting wrapping.
The format will be different one shots for different quests. It may or may not involve different players, or the same ones. Either way, it's going to be a dangerous delve!
Each session will be a "normal" session of 4 hours, instead of a mammoth 8-10 hour one like Menet-Ka or Ark of Hope, because it's not a deathtrap dungeon where you tell an entire campaign's worth of story in one night. Instead, it'll be about a particular standalone delve, like rescuing a hostage from kidnappers, that sort of thing. Unlike the deathtrap dungeons all three pillars will be present: exploration, combat, and roleplaying.
This time, instead of running 10 games across 10 groups, I'm going to let everyone make their characters and submit them first, then pick a group from that. Since there might be more than one one-shot in the same setting, I might end up drawing more groups later from it.
I'll judge the submissions by the quality of the character submitted, how complete the sheet is, and the player themselves, ie., a character that has a real backstory instead of being named Ace Ventura and who feels like they'd fit into the established setting and who has a sheet that doesn't need any more work done is going to look best.
Submissions will be open for 2 weeks, closing on Sunday, June 16th. If you're interested in playing, don't worry about scheduling -- just submit your character by sending it to me, and leave the rest to me to figure out. Anyone can enter!
HERE is the rules and setting document for making your character. I've created several unique player options and rules to give this a special "Diablo" aesthetic. If you have any questions, ask away. I might make some adjustments to the rules as people ask questions, but I'll note it if I do.
If you want to use a Google Doc template for your 5e sheet, here it is. Simply copy it so you get your own and can change it around as you please.
Good luck! I look forward to the adventuring party that will form.
FAQ:
> where do I declare faction
There’s no specific place for declaring faction so you can add it wherever you think makes sense on your sheet.
> what is Type
Type is creature type. Humanoid, beast, fiend, etc.
> do we use D&D deities and religions or Diablo’s
The religions and deities are from Diablo.

Spoiler:
I'll probably add some more setting information for people going in cold, but the gist of it is that Diablo takes place in the world of Sanctuary, a dark gothic realm where the forces of Hell are just starting to invade.
Also, some Zurvan-sponsored clarifications: you can still take standard human and variant human; there are just extra variant human options that don't involve a feat. Also also, while some classes are banned, you can still access their spell lists with the Magic Initiate feat.
