This Lostbelt is filled with fairy names, but on a lesser scale, it’s also filled with gem names. Beryls are gems, morganites are gems, spinels are gems, and the Mohs monsters are named after the Mohs hardness of gems.
What Comun said. Almost every single name and character in the LB (Genuinely 90% of them). Are based on Fairy Tales, and lots of gem names too. He's Beryl and she's Spinel.
Curious where you saw "Mohs" I don't remember, was it an enemy name that wasn't mentioned in the story?
I assume the purple blobs, but I've seen them called Mors as in the Roman personification of death.
Caesar’s NP does give precedent to モース as Mors, but Mohs fits a pattern.
What are the odds Oberon + Morgan in the same Lostbelt might lead to the summoning of Thin Caesar
I had it as "morse" at first cuz like, (re)morse and they're fairies who lost their way and all that stuff, but I like the gem one better considering the other names.
Anyway, I finished the story today, and I really, really liked it. It's very grand, big adventure feeling, which is just sort of added onto by the fact that this is the first 30% of the story alone and it's all like one big setup, with the "real story" just beginning as this part ends. There's a ton of interesting information, character dynamics, world politics and everything going around. As Max said before too, I have to agree that the Mashu interlude arc is so, so good. I loved the bits in Sheffield with Boggard and the culmination at the Norwich pier got me a bit emotional, not gonna lie (and then it was taken away from me thanks nasu). So many unanswered questions though, and such a long wait...
