Can we take this as confirmation that demon gods = true demons? Though this makes one wonder where primordial demons fit in all this, true demons already seem old enough.

Yeah I chalked that one up to misleading wording, made it sound like Takeuchi came up with Yankee Martha.
I prefer the notion that Nasu, after years of abuse at the hands of Takeuchi, has finally said, "Enough, I'm writing what I want, forget all y'all and your waifu!"
