I did band, where we were told to pick an instrument to learn and stick with. Actually organized and played the repertoire.

@asterism: I got lucky too, high school was pretty competitive.

Yay, more baroque.

Admittedly, I prefer many of the other composers of the period over Vivaldi; his style just doesn't appeal to me as much for some reason.

If we're talking musical experience, I convinced my mother to enroll me at a violin summer class three or four years ago (I had this silly "life improvement" plan going on at the time, and it included being good with music). I remember sucking at it, and in the end, the only thing I'm able to play up til now is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and a bunch of other practice songs. Thinking of getting back into it during the coming vacation months, though.

For something a bit more personal...

An arrangement of 'Come Thou Long Expected Jesus' to the tune of Hyfrydol which I did for the Friends of Garritan 2015 Christmas Album

Wind quartet: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon. I wanted to have a harpsichord in there as well, but I ran out of time; might add it down the road if I ever revisit this song.

I can't find it now (presumably it's long gone offline; this was many years ago) but I remember a site featuring the works of Zdzisław Beksiński that was playing similar music in the background. It always stayed with me.

Zbigniew Preisner. They (always) go hand in hand, Preisner's music and Beksinski's awesome visuals.
