Monday is upon us (at least where I'm at) and our watch begins. I suggested 2 eps a day but really, watch however you like, as long as you do.
And feel free to use this thread to post your thoughts on what you're watching, record your progress or just whine how you have no motivation (like I most certainly will) and have other people shame you into continuing.

Anime is Mushishi, if anyone missed.

Well. Anyway, I've been there done that. Read the manga, watched the anime, etc. I liked them both.

General stuff:

I like the OP a lot. Not so much the song itself as the fact that FINALLY a bit of respite from generic anime Jrock and Jpop opening songs. It's nice, relaxing, fits the atmosphere of the show well. Thumbs up.

The animation is that peculiar combination of simplified and ridiculously detailed which I find very appealing for some reason. The locations are drawn beautifully and the character design says it all without too many lines. Again the dreamlike atmosphere of the show (so far) reflects nicely in the animation.

I really like Ginko so far, and the few secondaries that appeared so far are pretty well done (especially the grandma imo).

Ep 1 AKA My Little Grandma Can't Be This Cute - very good start. Is subtly emotional without going overboard, and brings in the themes and setting without going into too much detail. Some things I didn't get (such as the sake bowl - when the grandma drinks from it the second time she becomes a full mushi, but what happens to Shinra when he takes a sip afterwards. He can see her, so did he become a mushi too?) but it doesn't appear to be a show where your enjoyment suffers when things are not spelled out for you.

Ep 2 - The eye mushi was a bit eww, but I like how we're starting to get some insight into Ginko's past (?) and personality. The pleasant atmosphere of mystery continues.

All in all I like this show so far, although the next episode is the fatal 3. that makes or breaks my interest in a show, usually. I have high hopes for this, though.

So got around to watch it.
The artstyle is nice and the animation adequate.

Why not

Ep 1 had a nice emotional story I appreciated much more than when I tried to get into it a few years ago.
It also reminded me of folk tales about faeries with the banquet.
I am interested why he took the cup

Ep 2 had a more direct "moral" in the story and I really liked the eye-mushi removal sequence.
I'm at a loss as to what the mushi "are" I presume they are a kind of pantheistic lifeforce

The OST in general is fitting and contributes to the calm atmosphere

As to my thoughts...

Ep 1: A good first episode, explains what Mushi are and the emotional feels of the kid are bittersweet. The voice acting and ost were on point. To answer Elthanes question, he took the cup to sell it to a Mushi collector as a source of income.
Ep 2: Very bittersweet that the girl lost her eyes yet got a glass eye to see. That mother wasn't very sympathetic. Good to see that we get glimpses into Ginko's circumstances and hints to his past.

As a side note, it was a bit weird seeing The Light of Darkness as the second episode, they must have jiggled the order around a bit.

I forgot how beautiful an experience watching mushishi is.

Man, watching Mushishi's such a relaxing experience after a long day of classes. There isn't much that I can really contribute to this discussion without future spoilers for those who haven't watched the anime/read the manga. Still holds up considering this is my fifth (?) time watching the first anime.

Though now that I think about it I actually prefer Zoku Shou's OP over this one, though both are good.
