Because that was literally what happened, he had his vision he saved her and returned her to Rin and Aoi, ran out of life and died, then fell into the pit and was eaten. The original had him drop after his hallucination and Sakura looking down on the corpse while it was being devoured by the worms, she was chained up naked in the basement.

That's something that TYPE-MOON has been selling to us since 2012.

And it's kinda true now after Fate/Zero anime opening Fate to the mainstream. The joke is not even true anymore. You are just a product of the old times. Embrace the new era or die with the old.

It probably wouldn't change (at least with the Western audience) even if she ended up topping the polls.
They even used the "Rider is more popular than me" joke in Carnival Phantasm when it wasn't really relevant anymore. It's almost as stuck in as Rin being bad with tech or Ciel and curry.

The promo sign thing for HF describes Sakura as "seemingly innocent, but malicious". People are not happy. RIP HF movie.

I think the reason they are revealing it this early is because we are gonna get to the Sakura/Mysterious Creature aspect and Black Saber pretty early in the movie. Though I can understand that many fans will be upset that we will get to those aspects pretty early. But since its a movie/set of movies, they will have to be rushed. Overall I definitely think that the movie is targeted more at the VN fans rather than the anime only fans, especially since most of the target audience(Japanese fans) have already played the VN considering how huge VNs are in Japan and part of the reason why portable consoles are more successful than normal consoles and pc. With HF ufotable are directly gonna skip to the important parts and skip many other aspects of the route, since they tried to adapt the entirety of ubw in the anime and weren't able to do it right and we all know how that turned out.

The impression I get is that people are offended that she's being described that way at all.

Not really a reason to be mad at that, at most you'd just question why they would use a caption like that. Are you talking about tumblr's reactions? Or Japanese fans.

That would be really bad considering that Saber doesn't get eaten by the mud until Day 8.

Assuming that this will be a series of movies, I'd say that's a good place to end the first.

That was my point and why it doesn't make sense to get angry, but it does catch people unawares because of the dissonance of the UBW anime after they saw Zero. "Why isn't she dead looking like she was then?" "What happened to that apathetic child we saw?" Those were questions I saw a lot of people have in UBW.

Sadly, thus is why a movie doesn't really work for it. So much info showed that the deadpan, apathetic, fatalistic somber Sakura is still there, but that the happy, chipper, kind Sakura isn't really a facade.

The only way they can possibly believably salvage it to convey that is giving it the Kizu treatment imo. There is really just too much important info to try slamming it into a two hour segment and retain any semblance of coherent plot progression.

I think.you're reading too deep into the fact that TYPE MOON is using Saber to promote something Fate/ related.

Using that logic they should never have shown the field with the swords in the UBW anime poster. Also you are talking about a poster from before they even had decided the format or even how many movies they will do as it was said in the TM Ace.

Hmm, might be the case then. But since its a movoe format I dont think it will take too long to get there. But anyway, they spoiled an important part of the story early on in that poster.

Of course it won't take too long to get there if it's a movie format, but, unless they give HF the UBW DEEN treatment, expecting Saber Alter within the first half of the movie is ridiculous due to how much has to be cut/changed.

Honestly, it's always sort of interesting to me to see the amount of people who insist that 2.5 hours is simply just not even close to enough to make this work.
